The crowd was announced somewhere as 998, so can see why the poster mentioned that. Just highlights the fact he follows Chester on Bbc football and doesn't go the game and yet comes on here to spout crap about the results knowing literally nothing about what happened on the day bar a few token posts by the bbc along the lines of "shot wide, Durrell Chester FC" It's embarrassing some of the overreaction. Our form is crap, but over the season we've gathered enough Points to stay up which was the goal this season for many of us. Sharps as a player here got slated towards the end of his playing time, then he leaves to climb the coaching pyramid and he's now a messiah and all the good results were down to him. Have to say it's pretty insulting to JM who is clearly passionate about our model and club. He may be 'passionate about our model and club' but that doesn't mean he's not a crap manager.

I hope that we've been cute enough to have a clause in Macca's contract that if we go down he walks. If we stay up will you be walking away from DC, I'm sure I can't be the only one that is sick of your constant moaning and attacks on those running our club - 300-odd posts already on the new DC but how many of them are supportive perm, I'd be surprised if you average 1% a season.

Goodness the fickleness of fans is tiring. Judge the team on the season, not during a bad run and not during a good run. Nine games to go, I can see us picking up a minimum of 10 points and finishing on 56, maybe pushing 60 points. Disappointing after where we were at Christmas but I will grab that. Macca is a good, honest, well spoken Manager who will be better after the experience gained this season. Support him!

I don't want the JM sacked and believe he should be given the time to develop a decent side capable to compete more consistently.
I do however want him to come out after a game like that and tell it how it is and that was dogshit. Macclesfield will feel very lucky, they were far better than us in every department and if we had held on for a draw then we would have robbed them.

Not a chance Perm. I won't be changing my mind on this. What are your thoughts on the form and how we are giving games away in the last minute? Surely you must question if he is the right man to lead this team given it is 7 points from last 36 on offer. The recent run is awful and of course it hurts when we lose points so late on in games. I didn't get too carried away when we have a good run, so in the same way I don't when things are going badly. I really hope Jon can turn this around and I don't question his ability to lead the team. If I'm proved wrong, then so be it. Either way, it's an opinion to which I am entitled to.

Lets look at our remaining fixtures - let's be honest, they are tough.
Bromley (A) - Chance of a result, if we can sort our away form out. Barrow (H) - Chasing play offs, good side, likely to have too much for us. Torquay (A) - Battling for their lives, tough trip. York (H) - Scrapping for their lives and hugely improved. Parkin always causes us problems. Lincoln (A) - Champions-elect. Hard to see anything other than a thumping here. Forest Green (A) - We always get beat by these and McCarthy thinks they are Manchester United so we'll roll over. Woking (H) Scrapping for their lives, but a team we should be beating. Sutton (A) - 3G pitch will be a factor, but perhaps they will be in holiday mode by then, providing they have enough points. Boreham Wood (H) - Good on their day, but could be in holiday mode with a mid table finish on the cards.
It's very difficult to pick out the games from this where you would feel confident of us picking anything up. Bromley and Boreham Wood are likely to be the only teams we come up against with little to play for. If we can win both those games, then that should be enough.

I don't think there have been many positive posts from any quarter this Calender year. I care passionately about Chester FC, but since we got back into the Conference it's been mainly back-to-the-wall stuff. Macclesfield have a manager that gets far more out of a smaller budget than us and they play FOOTBALL. We're in the brown stuff and nothing is changing.

Players confidence is very low at the moment so they are looking for the safe pass defenders hit it long and the midfield pass sideways because they don't want to give the ball away as the crowd soon get on there backs if they play a miss placed pass. When you are on a good run the fans are more forgiving of the odd miss placed pass but at the moment as soon as it goes out of play or to the other side the howls of the crowd can be heard, the only player it's not affecting at the moment is Dawson as he's fresh into the team and his game is picking a pass.

There's been hundreds of comments on this and countless other threads regarding Macca, loss of form, poor performances etc etc and it's becoming obvious now that many people are coming to the conclusion that Macca has MAYBE reached a plateau in terms of what HE can do to address the problems.
This suggests we have 3 options available to us:
1. Sack Macca with all the implications regarding financial costs, replacements etc 2. Give him more time - big question is HOW MUCH MORE? - which then leads back to 1. above 3. Help him! - we all know he's inexperienced and was always going to make mistakes. As a rookie, he was always likely to benefit from a STRONG assistant. The Sharps/Big Chris thing and the pros and cons have been discussed ad nauseum but if he HAS reached his limit it follows that another voice or opinion can only help.
In any case, these are the options that the "powers that be" should be considering NOW because we are in a vicious downward spiral - this is not the time for an "ostrich-like head in the sand" approach
Personally, I don't believe in the "hire and fire" approach (we all know how certain clubs use this e.g Eastleigh) so I'm leaning towards option 3. Having said that, I'd like to see the "bad cop" type of assistant (and certainly not part-time) because it seems to me that the players are in dire need of a massive kick in the wotsits.
That's it - those are my views for what they're worth

Is there anybody on the board who has any experience to make informed football decisions of any sort and understand the current landscape. I personally dont think sacking the Manager is the right way to go because whoever you bring in will be hamstrung with the same issues. The club need to change the infrastucture around the Manager to enable him to be able to develop both himself and the team. At the moment with no recruitment team or policy and nobody to advise, assist or make difficult informed decisions then i believe changing the manager may get some improved results short term but is certainly not the log term solution.

Whilst the club model and organisation may be very noble, nothing gets change like cold hard cash. Period. In over 40 years of watching Chester, in whichever guise you prefer to use, Chester, Chester City or Chester FC it doesn't matter to me, we need financial backing. It's all well and good sneering at premier league clubs but let's face it, TV money and huge investment from abroad has only improved their positions both league wise and financially. I'm not talking about throwing cash at the manager and trying to buy our way to success like some clubs do with fuck all attendances but ground up infrastructure investment with an eye on commercial viability.
We look less professional now than we did 6 years ago. That's why no one's coming to games anymore. I go to as many games as I can, job allowing, which is at least 75% of home games. Relying on volunteers is just working on goodwill - it's not a charity it's supposed to be a proper sporting event that people would pay good money to see.

The website is happily trumpeting that we've signed yet another midfielder! Will somebody please tell McCarthy that to win games you need to score goals and it's a fucking striker he should be bringing in. He's so busy looking after his favourites that he's forgotten how to win. As it is now we're in trouble and if we don't win the six-pointer down at Torquay we'll be in real danger of relegation back to regional football. He and the invisible (unless you watch TV) Iwelumo must go, now.

Our manager changes his tune every interview with regards to next seasons squad. First off he says all the squad deserve new contracts, then he says as he does not know what our player budget will be , he cannot think about who will be in the squad next season. Then when he is babbling on about the signing of the young inexperienced midfielder , Liam Davies, he says the following :- Blues boss Jon McCarthy added: "I'm delighted that Liam has agreed to join us until the end of the season. "It is a real opportunity for both club and player to work together with the following season's squad very definitely on the agenda. WITH THE FOLLOWING SEASON'S SQUAD , HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! Scoring goals hasn't really been our problem, it's letting in too many at the other end, especially late on in games. We know that a back four of Hunt, Hughes, Astles and Vassell can keep clean sheets but, whether by choice or necessity, we rarely play them. I presumed that Vassell must've been carrying a knock on Tuesday, but it sounded from his post-match interview as though Macca actually dropped him. Doing that left us without anyone who could play right back and meant we had to tinker with what should be a linchpin of Hughes and Astles in the centre, so I think perhaps what we need is actually a right back. I don't think George does a bad job when he plays there, I'd rather have him there than in midfield to be honest, but he's so unreliable with his fitness. At least with a long-term absentee like Killock you can hope he'll eventually make a full recovery. With George, you just know we're never going to get more than a few games out of him before he goes back on the sidelines for weeks.

Spot on Lobster, it's almost laughable that he hasn't brought in a right back given that is glaringly needed to cover Vassell. How he can't see that a flat back 4 with Hughes and astles is not a must is a joke. We score plenty of goals but concede too many, that is the issue. A striker would be useful to give Richards a kick up the arse but surely getting the back 4 settled was the biggest fix. I don't think he sees the frailties which itself is a worry. I know everyone is saying we will go down, whether we do or don't. What happens if we survive by the skin of our teeth, does that mean he warrants another season to get it right or does the club look at the 2017 form and results as the yardstick to measure his season on. I said at the time we should never offer ANY manager more than a year at a time as it is too costly should it go wrong which it is and has. I think the only way he can get the fans, not all but some, back on side is to win 4 from his last 9 which I can't see happening in a month of Sunday's. I think as fans and owners we need to have more transparency from the board and CEO as to the rationale behind the contact extension when surely waiting to the end of the season was the obvious choice to review and review it annually ongoing. I have been pro Macca but the extension concerned me at the time and this wretched run just shows he doesn't know how to stop it.

I think there is a very vocal minority on here that like to think they represent the views of all Chester fans. I don't actually think the tide has turned against McCarthy amongst the fans - the atmosphere at the ground is still one of support I'd say - certainly nothing like the booing and 'Burr Out' chants we heard for the last 4 or 5 home games of Steve Burr's reign last season.
For what it's worth, I was completely against the appointment of McCarthy in the first place, but until recently, he's largely proven me wrong and I think has done a decent job in the circumstances. I understand the worries regarding the changing of a winning system and refusing to revert back to the back four we all know works so well. However, I'm confident that when he does this, results will improve. And I'm 99% certain we won't be relegated.

One of the biggest issues new managers seem to struggle with is player recruitment. Without a decent assistant backing him up how do you think McCarthy will deal with the probable losses of Alabi and Hughes? For me that looks like the biggest worry for you lot in the medium to short term(I think you'll stay up fairly comfortably)
