The government spent ยฃ10,000,000,000 (thatโs TEN BILLION) on a failed track and trace system - but really just a front to siphon public funds to their mates and donors (shhh, donโt tell anyone).
Yet people reckon theyโre the party to trust with the economy! ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
For comparison, Ireland managed to get their system operational for ยฃ850,000.

It's really sums everything up that Ireland have beaten us to launching a track and trace system, even though they don't need it half as much as we do.
Incredible how much Ireland has developed in the last 20-30 years. Without doubt a more progressive country than the UK these days.

It appears that most countries have a covid trace app. They are not widely used though.because they are not reliable. The ones that are store far too much information about the people who download them. If we had one of those apps this page would go into meltdown

Do you have a source for that please? Every major newspaper. And some minor ones too. Which ones exactly? A Peer in the house of lords has said 12million. And whilst that is a massive amount of money for absolutely nothing. It is no where near 10 billion. I cannot see anywhere that mentions 10 billion so please share your knowledge

That's what he said - "a failed track and trace system". He didn't specify the app. I'll give you that one. But again, they haven't spent 10 billion and he has provided no evidence of siphoning money, so i will await for that to come through. People need to know what this ยฃ10 billion is earmarked for, and what has been spent.

People need to know what this ยฃ10 billion is earmarked for, and what has been spent. ยฃ10 billion earmarked for a system that has shown zero evidence that it is yet capable of working. Also interesting to note is that a ยฃ45 million contract for track and trace has been given to SERCO, whose CEO is the Grandson of Winston Churchill, no less and brother of former Tory MP, Nicholas Soames. Never mind the fact that SERCO was in 2013 fined 10's of millions of pounds for overcharging the Government for tagging released prisoners. The same company that was identified in 2017 as have a "history of problems, failures, fatal errors and overcharging", yet here we are, giving them a contract that is meant to protect the citizens of this country. The same company that has already had to apologise for a data breach around track and trace after confusing the "CC" and "BCC" functions within an email. Amazing handling yet again by this Government. I'm more surprised they haven't tried to blame Jeremy Corbyn yet.

820 new cases and 149 deaths reported today.
Not seen this mentioned on any news outlet.
Do we just not care about one plane crash a day anymore?

So the government give market stallholders a ยฃ10000 grant to help them get through Covid whilst they are unable to open during lockdown then in steps the Labour controlled council at Kirkgate Market and tells them they have to pay back rent for the time they were unable to open. A party for the people my backside

Doesn't alter the fact though sorry I missed out market If the Tories hadnโt reneged on their promise to fully support Local Authorities through the pandemic Iโm certain Leeds City Council wouldnโt be asking market traders for back rent. Despite telling councils to โdo whatever it takesโ to tackle Covid19, the Tory Government has so far failed to live up to their promises, leaving Leeds with a ยฃ200million shortfall. The Authority I work for has so far spent ยฃ22.1 million tackling the pandemic with just ยฃ6.9 million coming back from Central Government. Add to that a collapse in rent, business rates and council tax and we are looking at the withdrawal of whole services, the closing of libraries, leisure centres, community centres and parks and hundreds of redundancies. Itโs a harsh lesson but people should always remember: never, ever trust a Tory. They really are lower than vermin.

It does not alter the fact that the post Wortley put up was correct the Labour controlled council want rent from traders who could not trade because their market was closed. Spin it how you like the tories did not ask for the rent.

No wonder the country said 'no chance' to that lot yet again in December.

No wonder the country said 'no chance' to that lot yet again in December. They said โno chanceโ to Second Referendum - it was a Brexit election. Admittedly the change in policy from the centrists, led by damp squib bore Starmer was electoral suicide as it proved. The other radical policies offered up still remain popular now.
