I see social media is full of Conservative Party members cutting up their membership cards in protest at having to briefly wear a bit of material to help to save lives. Clearly 60,000+ corpses aren’t enough for the Tory Death Cult, they need more.

How completely bizarre. Of all the things that might make you rethink whether you want to be a Conservative Party member, the straw that breaks the camel's back is being told to wear a mask in shops during a pandemic?
Some strange people about.

I have just seen it how pathetic not only does it protect you it helps protects everyone else its not rocket science, I have been wearing one every time I go out but like everything else some people have no common sense as has been seen with the social distancing thing

Their main complaint is that it apparently that it clashes with the party's "libertarian" values. What nonsense! The Tories are an authoritarian party - always have been, always will be, and more so than ever under Boris Johnson. You can tell that from how often they talk about fines. Why in mid-July are they talking about fining parents who don't send their kids back to school in September? It's so needlessly negative and confrontational.
I think some people just don't understand what they're voting and singing up for. A lot of Tory voters might benefit from doing one of those "whose policies do I agree with?" questionnaires, and might well find that a different party better reflects their views.

More NHS staff have died through government incompetence over Covid-19 than our soldiers in the Iraq war.
Meanwhile, there’s a generation of right-wing British men who seem to think they could have endured the privations of trench foot and war rations and yet are unwilling to go to Asda in a mask to buy their crates of Stella.

To be fair though Ian, when you've fought in and won a war that you weren't even alive during, you are obviously too hard to go around wearing a face mask.

You would think that after the whole post-Brexit ferry debacle, the Tories would learn. Covid Contracts
Another 138 deaths yesterday too. It seems that this is now the “new normal” for the people and media of this country.

Nothing wrong with exploiting a deadly pandemic to turn a dirty dollar for your friends and sponsors as the Tory boys on here will tell you. And if a few extra tens of thousands die because you’re delaying awarding contracts for vital equipment until a Tory company can be found to sell kit at extortionate prices, then at least they died in the service of enriching the already super-rich. A noble cause.

No sign of the Selective Statisticians again today as the daily death toll drops to 85, the 5th day in the last 7 that the figure is below 100. The average daily total is now 75.
No doubt you'll be back again next Tuesday, as that always has the highest figures of the week.

It kind of feels like if they're moving away from that, they're defeating their own logic. One thing I will give the Tories credit for at the moment is that they are in no way betraying their own ideology!

You seem to have missed the word 'announced' out again, but don't worry just keep on with your sensationalism.

After Michael Gove was pictured without a face covering in Pret A Manger a day after telling the nation it’s just “good sense” to wear one in shops etc, Boris Johnson’s spokesman has said masks will not be required when specifically buying takeaway food.
This is not a joke. The Tories really have just changed crucial public health guidelines on the fly purely in order to avoid sacking Michael Gove for breaking them. It’s the second time they’ve done this after the whole “drive 30 miles to a luxury retreat on your wife’s birthday to test your eyesight” mess.
How much more evidence does anyone need that this government couldn’t give two shits about the lives of ordinary people?

Absolutely disgusting how willing they are to endanger the public, just so they can excuse themselves and the flouting of their own regulations. Equally shocking, and deeply troubling, is how willing Tory supporters are to look the other way whilst the slaughter continues.

It does remind you a bit of Animal Farm where the pigs keep changing the rules as soon as they break them.
Orwell was supposed to be warning about communism there, but it applies to any highly authoritarian government, right or left.
