It’s also hypocrisy, ignorance and a monumental lack of self-awareness. Yep would agree with that

To be honest, I would probably agree that the far-left and far-right are as bad as each other. The problem is that the real far-left in this country (and many others) is so marginal as to be all but insignificant. Meanwhile, the far-right get elected. IMO the real far right is insignificant as well they just seem to get more publicity for some reason

The Tory party right now is about as right-wing as it gets. This independent website agrees. www.politicalcompass.org/uk2019

Booting out black people to countries they’ve never set foot in before. Pretty sure that’s a small facet of far right extremism.

Yes the present government is right wing but its hardly the extremists we were talking about They're not as overt as the extremists, but I think the mentality is much the same. Paul Golding was encouraging his followers to vote Tory and tried to join the party, which says a lot.

So are you saying WW2 was wrong and we should not have fought Nazism and allowed them to run amok through Europe and the rest of the world, also if you opposed Hitler in the 30s you would most likely end up dead. The far right in this country are no better than the Nazis of the 30s and there is no way should we let them have any control in this country the far left are no better infiltrating the peaceful Black Lives Matter protests and turning them into near riots therefore reducing the effect of what is a legitimate protest. I dont know your age D C but my father fought during WW2 and my Uncle was killed in Singapore assumedly you have ancestors involved in the conflict so lets not undermine what was achieved back then I could be wrong but I think he’s saying it’s a shame we fought the Nazis 80 years ago to have post-War children now holding the views that would’ve passed as the norm in Nazi Germany. Precisely. Also to my knowledge, there is absolutely no basis for the claim that the far-left 'infiltrated' the Black Lives Matter movement. Pretty sure this was said by Donald Trump in order to delegitimise the concerns of black people. Sad to see WB doing the same. And who is this far-left you talk of? What do you define as far-left? Presumably you would include Communism? Probably worth mentioning here that if it wasn't for the Soviet Union, we'd be having this conversation in German. Much as people would like to think it was Britain alone that won the Second World War, that evidently wasn't the case.

The views of the far right are definitely further spread in this country than the “extreme left” (whatever that is?). For example, I am a member of a Facebook group called “Old Photographs of British Life” and it is absolutely full of racist comments which I challenge on a daily basis. I guess I should’ve known better as any page with “British” in the title seems to attract the Neanderthals.

Guys, this has now turned into an argument about a Facebook group you both happen to be in.
Can you please keep it to private messages if you want to continue this, or start a new thread if you must. I know the topic can change mid-thread but this is a bit ridiculous!

This is staggering WHO reports
The World Health Organization reported a record increase in global coronavirus cases for the second day in a row, with the total rising by 259,848 in 24 hours.
The biggest increases reported on Saturday were from the United States, Brazil, India and South Africa, according to a daily report. The previous WHO record for new cases was 237,743 on Friday. Deaths rose by 7,360, the biggest one-day increase since May 10. Deaths have been averaging 4,800 a day in July, up slightly from an average of 4,600 a day in June.
Total global coronavirus cases surpassed 14 million on Friday, according to a Reuters tally, marking another milestone in the spread of the disease that has killed nearly 600,000 people in seven months. The surge means that 1 million cases were reported in under 100 hours.
The WHO reported 71,484 new cases in the United States, 45,403 in Brazil, 34,884 in India and 13,373 in South Africa.
India on Friday became the third country in the world to record more than 1 million cases of the new coronavirus, behind only the United States and Brazil. Epidemiologists say India is still likely months from hitting its peak.
Cases in Brazil crossed the 2 million mark on Thursday, doubling in less than a month and adding nearly 40,000 new cases a day. A patchwork of state and city responses has held up poorly in Brazil in the absence of a tightly coordinated policy from the federal government.
The United States, which leads with world with over 3.7 million cases, has also tried to curb the outbreak at the state and local levels with only limited success.

Bolsanero is overtly wicked and Trump is overtly insane. Worrying,I don't think our government is that different, they're just a little bit better at masking it.
