It seems likely the rule won't apply to the Balaerics and Canary Islands now.
It's the right decision, but they've had a peculiar way of doing things throughout this crisis where they seem to impetuously announce a rule, then backtrack on it and give exemptions, often in response to something a Conservative MP or advisor has done.
I'm hazarding a guess that Grant Shapps' unconfirmed Spanish location holiday is on one of the islands.

The government have actually listened to people's Complaints and acted on it. Which is what you wanted. Then it's a conspiracy. Can't win can they They've put together poorly thought out advice that even people like me, with no knowledge of science but the ability to look at a map and use a search engine, can spot the flaws in, and then had to backtrack on it which gives the impression they don't know what they're doing. Think things through - that's all I'm asking of them. Anyone making these decisions should realise that "Spain" covers everything from the big cities of Madrid and Barcelona, to the isolated islands, to the Basque mountains, to even the north of Morocco, and one blanket rule for the whole nation is nonsensical.

Yeah, scrolled back one day and 24 posts earlier and I think I’ve found the reference. Moving forward and for the avoidance of any doubt would it not be easier for you to use the quote option in your replies? It’s not difficult, just give it a go, nothing to be frightened of.

Seriously though Upsanddowns, the quote function does help us follow the thread as often it’s unclear as to what you are replying to.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about here. No, still not mastered it. Clearly successfully using the quote function must be like cracking the Enigma code or something. Shame Alan Turing isn’t available to hold your hand.

I’m certainly not laughing at you; was merely advising. Next time you hit the quote button on another user’s post, type your reply underneath the quote box rather than posting your reply as a separate post. Just makes it clearer to follow, that’s all.

but you knew exactly what i meant.i have a very small phone and type slowly due to poor eyesight sometimes when i reply to a post somebody posts before mine arrives That’s fair enough, I certainly wasn’t being condescending. Others posting before your reply to an earlier post is the reason why the quote function works to help us follow the thread. Seriously, sometimes it genuinely isn’t clear what you’re talking about because you’re responding to an earlier comment without quoting it, when there have been other comments posted since. Have a play around and see how it goes. I must commend you, at your age and with your apparent sight issues, for persevering with this technology. If all else fails, get an iPhone 11 - the screen is bloody massive.

So you cant fly to Portugal but you can still go to the Azores and Madeira which is quite sensible as they are islands miles away from Portugal. You cant fly to any part of Spain , including the Canary Islands which is further from Spain than Madeira is from Portugal. Unbelievably though you can still fly to Gibraltar !!

If quarantining those now returning from Spain is important, why on Earth were people allowed to return freely from Italy in Feb/March with no restrictions, no monitoring, no airport temperature checks, no anything?
No rhyme or reason from this shower in charge. We are deliberately being put in a state of constant confusion. Gaslighting on steroids.
