that's fine. the problem i have at the moment is the attitudes of some people who should know better .yesterday on twitter a well known singer said "I'm sick of this i want my life back let all vunerable people go into lockdown and I'll get on with my effin life"2000 likes.. people with influence should know better. Do you mean people with influence like the governments special advisor? Those people with influence? but that would not influence you as you don't agree with anything they say or do

You seemed quite relaxed about Dominic Cummings breaking the rules and spreading the virus up and down the M1. have you got another side to your record .i don't think hitler could have influenced as many people as cummins has .either that or everybody was looking for an excuse I’m not saying he influenced anyone, merely pointing out your hypocrisy.

I agree with you there. I think some people could do with being taken on a walk through an intensive care unit, and maybe they'd realise that if their biggest problem is disruption to their social life, they're not the ones suffering.

Nicola Sturgeon's tone is just so much better than Boris and his rabble. She uses phrases like "stick together" and "be strong", ours just blame people and say "do as we say or we'll fine you". A bit of empathy and gratitude can get you a long way.
In England, we have this idea that compassion is weakness and that strong leaders have to be cruel and heartless. It's nonsense and needs to change.

The fact is that no government could control the idiots who live in England who think they can do whatever the hell they want, so unfortunately its got to the stage where threats of police and even military action will be around the corner. Its the only way some people will stop and listen. How about put the onus on the law breakers, and not just default blaming government every time?

Because they clearly can’t govern/influence their people can they? Bit bizarre that you somehow think English people act differently from Scottish, Northern Irish and Welsh. Perhaps those countries just have better governments.

I see one of my posts has been deleted and I assume it’s because I quoted one of Oaks Blue’s pithy rejoinders. However, I would still like to know why he thinks the Labour Party is responsible for how the Conservative Party administers their Local Authority. Did he attend the same blamestorming session as the other Tory apologists on here?

I don't think there's a radical difference between how Scotland and England should deal with a crisis like this. Just be clear, be compassionate, and stick to your own guidelines, for a start.
And yes, as I've said multiple times, England has a problem with mentality and its people. That's how this lot got in.

I just wish all leaders would work together to defeat this virus.. To criticise is easy. but I have yet to hear how any other leader would deal with it. You probably won't because no one really knows how to deal with it as its a new phenemenom yes there have been mistakes, not just here but worldwide as each country has their own ideas of how to deal with it and yet with all these brains still no definitive solution has been found, but all inventions are trial and error with mistakes along the way and to some people its just the excuse for venting their ideologies they need. I await the abuse but would prefer a level headed debate about how best to move forward personally I dont really know what the best way forward is. Full lockdown -creates its own hidden issues depression etc Limited freedom - proved it doesnt work Vaccine - a bit away but people still die of flue and we have a vaccine Herd Immunity - Death sentence for a lot of people but could help the body build its own immunity. Nature does have its way of solving its own problems. I would be interested in what individuals think should be done without the vitriol.

The labour party comments were designed to see how much mancot actually knows about politics as it seems he just repeats what others tell him and I was right. The real issue here is not which government to blame, for me its about blaming the people who have no regard for laws and think they can go around infecting people like the virus doesnt exist. Its like herding cats and no government can do a perfect job... BTW, cases are rising EVERYWHERE

In England, we have this idea that compassion is weakness and that strong leaders have to be cruel and heartless. Who thinks that? I've said multiple times, England has a problem with mentality and its people. All of England or just those who disagree with you? For a start it's normalised in the most popular newspapers, with the likes of the Sun, Mail, Star, Express etc regularly using terms like 'do-gooders' and 'snowflakes'. For a lot of people, casual moaning about handouts, benefits etc is a conversation starter. You're more likely to get support for a reactionary view that criminals should be shot, immigrants sent home, and those who don't given no money than if you give a more measured compassionate opinion.
No, not all of England, but it doesn't have to be all to be a problem. And yes, it is just my opinion. Others might think I'm the problem.

More morons in Trafalgar Square today I see. It's not "young people" either, going by the pictures.
Shame we can't just put a big dome over them like in the Simpsons film.

I see the Serco track and trace service (with “NHS” title bolted onto it - a ploy to alter the public’s perception) is an absolute mess.
People are finding that if they were tested in an NHS setting they can’t register their result on the app.
Suppose that’s generally what happens when public services are run by private profiteering companies - make millions out of the taxpayer for a broken service.

The app is tragic. All that time and you can't even do basic things on it. I am taking part in one of the research programs for Covid and have had to have some tests and not being able to upload negative tests is incredibly frustrating!

OK unsurprisingly your not happy with Serco but which companies do Labour say we should have used I think Labour argue it shouldn't have been outsourced. I know nothing about Serco but from about two minute's reading I've learned that their CEO is the brother of someone who was a Tory MP until last year, which seems to be a common theme with just about every contract they hand out.
It's not really relevant what Labour say we should have done anyway. If they were in power, they would have access to more ways to make an informed decision, but they're not, so to ask what they would do is just distracting from yet more Conservative incompetence (if we're being kind) or corruption (if we're not).

As someone who has firsthand experience setting up Covid19 testing stations I can only report that Serco / Deloitte / Group 4 (who all appear to be involved) are embarrassingly gash. In the initial stages I worked with the Army to establish two mobile sites and they were absolutely first class to deal with. A few months ago the Army stopped manning these stations and that’s when the problems started. Serco (or whoever it is who took over) always left rubbish behind (some of it looking a bit medical), they were often late or sometimes didn’t turn up. I seem to spend half my working day dealing with complaints about them. To make matters worth Serco also set up two walk-in testing centres without much prior warning to the Local Authority. One site is on a patch of waste ground, the other in a car park, hidden from the main road (their choice of sites, no input from us). They provided no signage to these facilities, just a post code for people wishing to use them. As a result we’ve had sick people, looking to get tested, mistakenly wandering into adjacent pharmacies, a leisure centre and even the local theatre box office, much to the horror of staff working there. I have spent the last fortnight trying to improve things but dealing with the Serco people is an absolute nightmare.

Thanks for the insight Ian I have no idea what SERCO is apart from it seems to be a services management company, what you have witnessed seems a bit of a shambles and needs to be managed a lot better. Maybe its something that is such an undertaking on a vast scale that under normal circumstances would have taken a year or more to roll out to ensure that all running problems are ironed out, however it has probably been rushed out due to the exceptional circumstances and obviously has teething problems. The question is do you wait untill all the problems are sorted or do you commence as a work in progress, your damned if you do or damned if you dont

Instead the Tories put their ideology (public sector bad, private sector better, their mates and donors best) ahead of public safety and we are left with a system not fit for purpose. Unless their purpose is to put public money into the hands of their friends.

I doubt if local councils and public health teams would have had the capacity to run something like this out, which has to be coordinated Nationally and I doubt if anything has been done ahead of public safety. We are not let with a system that is unfit for purpose we have a system that has had to be formulated in a very short time that has been released before proper testing, due to the unique situation we are in, we have a work in progress not ideal I know but better than dithering about.
