Left-leaning New Zealand have set the benchmark dealing with this.
People over profit.

Not quite how it works.
They were very quick to impose measures to put people before profit and there’s only been one death.

Our highest number of deaths are in London. 8.2 million people live in London according to Google they live in 1.572 sq miles I think it may be bigger than that. New Zealand has 4.8 million people living in 268,021 sq km l. guess it makes social distancing is much easier

Whether it's to do with lack of reporting, one thing I have noticed during lock down is the reduction in knife crime. It would great if by keeping people off the streets lives have been saved. There have been increases in arson cases though, including people's houses being targeted.

And telephone masts. Don't know if arson attacks are to do with gangs but it's possible. It just seemed odd that before the virus stabbings seemed to be regularly reported

Stands to reason really I would've thought. Stabbings tend to happen outdoors and in urban areas.

Probably not reported as much now because the police are too busy shouting at people on Twitter for sitting in their gardens.

1684 dead today from Covid-19 in UK
-airports still open for commercial flights, no checks on landing. Why?
-construction workers still at work. Why?
-widespread testing still not happening. Why?

I think somebody needs to remind Ian that Spain, who have been particularly hard hit with this, currently have a socialist Prime Minister before the fella embarrasses himself any further. Who’s embarrassed here? Not me fella. Maybe instead of clapping the NHS tomorrow night, Tory voters should shout sorry to their neighbours. Just had an email from my daughter’s school appealing for materials so the design department can make PPE for the NHS. Unbelievable that this is happening in such a wealthy nation. It’s an uncomfortable truth for Tory apologists but in 2016, a pandemic drill was carried out in Britain with shocking results. Cut to the barebones, the NHS was overwhelmed. The govt was warned, but did nothing and the Dept of Health suppressed the conclusions. You reap what you sow and unfortunately the British people are now facing a death rate many times higher than it should be.

i already wear glasses thanks .it's not just these posts its just that you don't seem to have much fun .all you seem to do is rant about people who have more than you or yor beloved labour party.you should take up train spotting or do jigsaws its very therapeutic Fair enough, it was a general comment about me OK. Yes, I do hate what’s going on. As Ian says, if you don’t hate it you’re either not paying attention or there’s a dark dark hole in the place your heart should be (and you’d still be declared fit for work). What’s the opposite of what you’re calling me? Someone who loves their overlords? Boot licker springs to mind.

I don't believe any kind of cover-up is going on, but I have read that there are logistical problems with giving a daily update on the number of deaths, especially given that the NHS is completely overworked as it is. A person who dies of the virus may not be included in the official figures until one or two weeks later.
We won't know the full impact of this pandemic until it's over, but I think it's fair to assume the real number of cases and deaths are rather higher than is being reported. A clue to that is that the number of politicians and celebrities contracting it seems disproportionately high.

Was also going to mention the fact that the government are only counting hospital inpatient deaths and nothing else - and the testing rate is so, so low too.

It's clear though that many countries, with different types of government, are struggling to respond to a crisis that is constantly evolving.
Exploiting this worldwide tragedy as an opportunity to attack anybody who voted Conservative is pretty messed up.

Family has always got to come first, but you display a lack of compassion there. It's a good job not everybody takes the same attitude as that.

It's clear though that many countries, with different types of government, are struggling to respond to a crisis that is constantly evolving. Exploiting this worldwide tragedy as an opportunity to attack anybody who voted Conservative is pretty messed up. Spot on. Look at the contrast between Sweden and Spain in terms of dealing with this pandemic. Totally different approaches with neither having little affect it appears. It’s an Indiscriminate virus and so little is known about it means it is difficult to deal with. With more and more evidence coming out that this virus was caused by a pangolin or bat being brought into the human food chain it is those countries who have allowed these barbaric “wet markets” to continuing trading after the SARS and MERS outbreaks who should be the ones subject to criticism and attack.

Population of New Zealand. 4.8 million Population of UK. 67 million Not a good comparison NZ population is 4.8 million. UK population is 67.9 million. UK Covid-19 *inpatient hospital* deaths (as they’re the only deaths we are reporting) = 7097 NZ deaths if at same rate as UK’s 7097 * (4.8/67.9) = 502 Yet they’ve only had 1. So yeah, they’re doing it better than we are. Nothing to do with a smaller population.
