Apparently Israel will be fully vaccinated by end of February. We’re still way behind in the UK Vaccine Minister Nadim Zahawi is probably too busy setting up medical supply companies in his wife’s name to care about the rest of us. Don’t forget there is nothing the Tories won’t exploit for personal gain, and that includes mass death catastrophes. Nice to see Australian born, US citizen, Rupert Murdoch getting vaccinated at a NHS Hospital the other day.

The fact he is both the Business Minister and the Vaccine Minister says all you need to know doesn’t it. Not supporting HanCOCK at all but why is the Health Secretary not taking a lead on this programme?

Population of Israel? 9 million Population of Wales is 3 million and whilst the vaccine is being rolled out around the world Messrs Drakeford and Gething are still deliberating as to whether candles and colouring books are essential items.

But has Wales been hit by the new strain yet? just before the 2 week fire break deaths were about 1500 they are now almost 4000. some areas have been in lock down for weeks with no sign of improvement. From what I've heard/read the new strain is present in both the North and South. Flintshire has seen a pretty rapid rise in infections that they seem to be attributing to the new strain. I've generally been happy with the Welsh governments actions so far but the last couple of months they seem to have lost track a bit. Schools and the non essential items debacle being the main culprits. Vaccines are being distributed throughout the entire UK based on population aren't they? So the Welsh government will only be allocated a small percentage, hence the low rate of injections?

Pretty sure the Welsh government were blocked from sourcing their own vaccines and had to go with Westminster’s allocation.

It kind of needs to, to be fair, to compensate for our high infection rates.

not being nosy just trying to get a handle on when my age group can expect to get it. Mr gething won't give that information out. Apparently North Wales will get hundreds vaccinated this week. At that rate it will take years. my 83 Yr old brother has heard nothing and my daughter who works in a care home has had hers cancelled due to logistic problems. Piss up and breweries comes to mind. This is hugely concerning to read. With a huge effort and organisation every person in Wales should be vaccinated within weeks. Why should the Welsh have priority? They should take their turn in priority like the rest of the UK.

There are 56 million people living in England and 3 million living in Wales. With an intense vaccine programme implemented in both countries Wales should be fully vaccinated more quickly than England purely because of population numbers.

I fully agree with that. it just appears the Welsh government don't seem to have grasped how to transport and fairly distribute their share

Welsh Labour had better pull their finger out link

Over 1,000 dead in one day yesterday. More in 24 hours than most countries’ entire pandemic toll.
Horrifying. Heads should roll, but of course they won’t.

I think the media are missing the point regarding the vaccines. According to the scientists the vaccine gives 6-12 months immunity. Now we are looking at vaccinations at the rate of 2M a week and we have approx 55M people over 16 in the UK. This means that if everyone needs 2 doses then it will take 55 weeks to vaccinate everyone who needs it. Therefore if the vaccine needs to be injected every 12 months then 2M a week is not enough and if it lasts 6 months then we’d have to just vaccinate half the population and hope the others survived.
Also nobody has come up with an answer regarding antibodies and immunity. I mean if the fact that you’d already had COVID meant you had active antibodies that made you immune for a period of say 6 months, then surely anyone who’s had a positive test could go to the back of the queue. This would mean more people who haven’t got the protective antibodies getting the vaccine.
And the 3rd and most important point is. I watched Priti Patel interviewed on breakfast this morning and if she’s been in Tier 4 since December 18th how the fuck did she end up with such razor sharp eyebrows, you’re not telling me she trimmed those herself in the bathroom mirror with the kitchen scissors?

Did anyone hear any clapping tonight. Think it's run its course now and didn't need bringing back. People are fed up now and want security and a future to look forward to, not a round of applause which is bordering on patronising.

There was an interview on the news today where it was revealed that B'ham, the second biggest city, has not received ANY vaccines at all!! And my 88 year old friend in New Brighton hasn't heard anything about having the jab. He can't ask anybody about it because the surgery phones don't take messages, apparently.

No, but somehow the PM’s Dad has managed to get himself to the front of the queue despite him not meeting the requirements to be in the first cohort. We have also vaccinated US citizen Rupert Murdoch and rumours are still flying about that the extended family of Vaccine Minister Nadim Zahawi have all had the jab.

I think Stanley Johnson is 80 though and lives in Penzance so I’m guessing they’d ship the vaccine down there in batches by the thousand so obviously more sparsely populated areas will result in a more widespread group age wise getting the jab. Don’t get me wrong i think the blokes a twat and I’ve got a dad in his late 80’s in a care home who hasn’t had his first jab yet so I’m not trying to justify the decision to vaccinate him, just putting forward a theory as to why it should happen. Anyway wasn’t there a rumor he’d applied for a French passport because of Brexit. Maybe he should fuck off over there and get in the queue for their vaccine.
