Just to clarify the figures given are the total number of vaccines given

As of March 9th England 19,199,233 Wales 1,007,391 Scotland 1,789,377 Northern Ireland 596,527 Percentages are surely a more accurate gauge of success than those stand-alone figures though? In the same way it would be clumsy to just say "England has had more deaths than Wales". Well, yeah, it will do, it also has more people with brown hair and more people who eat corn flakes for breakfast. It has a far bigger population. Perhaps the most accurate way to compare would be to look at Wales's figures alongside those of a part of England with a similar population, such as Greater Manchester (both around 3 million). Is this better As of March 9th England 19,199,233 = 34% of pop Wales 1,007,391 = 31% of pop Scotland 1,789,377 = 32% of pop Northern Ireland 596,527 = 31% of pop

In reality some people will have had both vaccines and others neither. FOP's figures were about the percentage who have had both vaccines.

Thank you. Wortley’s figures are irrelevant because England has a higher population. Percentage is definitely more comparable than just the numbers vaccinated; however you are correct - the comparison should best be made against a region of England with a similar population to Wales. What I don’t understand is why a glut of posters have got their backs up about the success of the vaccination program in Wales - surely it’s better that as many people are vaccinated as possible? Why so angry about it!

Yes, my figures were accurate for those who have been fully vaccinated (both jabs).

What a pointless argument. Why don’t we also take into consideration people who live in Wales who’ve had their vaccine in England due to them working in England and having it done at their workplace. Do they count in the Welsh or English figures. Like I said figures are pointless it’s not a competition it’s a pandemic.

From my knowledge of this, they’ll count in the Wales figures as they’ll have Wales GPs/Wales NHS numbers. I hope this helps. If it isn’t a competition why are a lot of you so angry and upset about it?

I am pleased to hear devolution is working for you, as it is for all of Wales. Percentage per population to have received both doses: England 1.42% Scotland 2.17% The Occupied Territories of the North of Ireland: 2.26% Wales 6.09% No Covid-related deaths recorded for two days in a row and the overall case rate is now down to 43.9 cases per 100,000. And instead of percentages of population, what are the real numbers behind them? if it's not a competituon why do we see this post

Do they count in the Welsh or English figures. Like I said figures are pointless it’s not a competition it’s a pandemic. I'm trying to make sense of the figures, more than anything. Yes, there will be the people from Wales vaccinated in England, but vice versa as well, and I would've thought they would cancel each other out. I don't know where FOP has got his figures from, but if they're correct, Wales has managed to give both doses to four times as many of its people as England has. I think that's a reasonable point to raise. On the other hand, WB's statistics suggest the number of vaccines given in all parts of the UK is roughly equal proportionately, which suggests Wales is prioritising giving vulnerable people both doses ahead of giving a wider section of the population their first. Which strategy is better is up for debate.

I totally agree its a huge congratulations to the whole of the UK NHS for an outstanding achievement I basically supplied the figures because I am just pissed of with so many on here slagging off England and trying to prove other countries are better and more proactive than England and calling England a cesspit and a racist and xenophobic country I am an Englishman and proud of it just as a Welshman is proud to be Welsh a Scotsman is proud to be Scottish and an Irishman is proud to be Irish. I am not a racist nor am I xenophobic I just dont understand why some on here hate England just because they lost the referendum. Rant over
