All gone a bit quiet regarding this new signing.

It's not going to happen before tomorrow now. Shame. Was hoping the right signing might galvanise the others.

Don’t know why Jim bothers replying to this helmet.

Nice of Salford to let us keep him, thought they’d recall and give him some sub run outs in league 2 as doesn’t look like they’ll go up or down. Been great for us but still think Apter is technically one of the best loans I’ve seen at the Deva, destined for a career in league 1 or something.

Tall, but deceptively good with the ball and knows where the net is. Rob Apter is the 2022 Sam Aiston, I just hope he goes on to have a better career than Sam.

I like Apter but of the two my money would be on Dackers to go further in the game. His height alone makes him a handful, and the fact that he has some degree of technique and ability to go with it is a real rarity at this level.

Great news that. He has been one of the few positives to come from this season. He will play a lot higher than the Conference North. Good technique and starting to add goals to his game.

Great news this. Just a pity we can't sign him permanently & the thought of possibly having to go with Waring up front next season fills me with misery.

Sam Aiston was one of our great wingers. Had more physical presence than Rob Apter and wasn't knocked off the ball as much as Rob. Then again I was Nottingham Uni in 1976 when Nottingham Forest won the then 2nd division even though Notts County were favourites. Next year spent my time between coming back to Chester to watch Chester one weekend then staying in Nottingham next weekend and watched Nottingham Forest win the first division. Great times to see a little player named John Robertson rip past the full backs of every team. Couldn't believe how he did it and was amazed how no team could defend against him. Then later he provided the cross for Trevor Francis to score the goal to win the European Cup. Then the year after scored the only goal to retain the Cup. You never know Rob. Just get a bit of John Robertson in you who knows.

James Hardy has gone on loan to Buxton for the rest of the season. Good move for everyone concerned - he clearly didn’t seem to be in Watson’s plans here and he’ll get the chance to try and lead his new club to promotion. Doubt we’ll see him in a Chester shirt again.

…and now there’s a new signing through the door! Young striker Dan Griffiths joins us on loan from Chippenham - not a player I’ve personally heard of and seems to have a pretty solid if unspectacular goalscoring record. Should be a decent squad player and give us another option up top if nothing else.

Our third piece of transfer business this evening sees former Wrexham midfielder Matt Sargent arrive on loan from Salford. Again, not a name I’m all too familiar with but seems a decent prospect who’s had a couple of productive loan spells in the league below earlier in the season.

Couple of local lads in on loan nice to see.
Hopefully they have an impact like Dackers and Apter.
With the level Griffiths is currently playing at, if he performs we may be able to tempt him on a perm.
Can see Watson is just trying to tie us over until the of the year with some youth and then maybe the summer rebuild?
Again reiterate I’d be keeping only; Stanway Williams Burke Stephenson Weeks
On the edges are Robbo, Fitz, Glendon, Roache, Waters.

Both young and both Welsh Youth Internationals. So, you would hope that they have learnt to do the right things. Also, always been impressed by the qualiry of the FAW Coaching Programmes. Sargent is a midfielder, from Salford via Wrexham Academy and was on loan to Airbus. Griffiths is a striker who was on Cardiff City's books. He has also played in the Welsh Premier. Not seen either lad play, as I dont cover those leagues. However, I would be prepared to take a chance on young players, any day of the week

Can't say I've heard of either of them. Can anyone shed any light on whether they're any good? Rio you usually know your stuff regarding unknown players got any info mate? Both versatile footballers in their respective positions it would appear - Matt Sargent "I’d like to think I’m an all-round midfielder as I’ve got a good first touch, wide range of passing, improving at driving with the ball and I don’t mind the dirty side, for example running, heading, tackling." "Sargent is very versatile, playing anywhere in the midfield." 'After progressing through the academy and youth programme at Wrexham, Matthew earned a fulltime contract at the club in 2019 and played for the first team in one game. Salford signed him after he was released before the start of last season, and he made his first team debut for them when playing in a Papa John’s Trophy match. He was also selected on the bench for a second round FA Cup game. This season he has played in two Papa John’s Trophy games and has had a couple of spells away from the club with short term loans at Matlock and Ashton United. As a schoolboy Matt played for the Wales U-16 team and in 2017/18 played once for the U-17 side.' Dan Griffiths 'Griffiths, is a versatile forward' Craig Bellamy, prior to (having to?) step down as CCFC Academy coach - 'A striker who received rave reviews from Bellamy, Griffiths is also plying his trade in the Welsh top flight with Penybont, having previously started his youth career at Liverpool. The former City striker concluded by praising forward Dan Griffiths, who broke the deadlock before securing a first-half brace. The Wrexham-born striker signed for the Bluebirds from Liverpool last season.' “Dan’s a good player. He gives us something different and holds the ball up well. At this level he’s as good as you’ll get forward wise and we had to work hard to get him. He was at Liverpool so it was a patient one trying to get him in."

Good luck to both lads. You'd have thought both would be available for signing next season if they do well, so signings with a view to the future.
