Jennel John-Lewis signed for Grimsby from Hereford. Looked a good player against us. Is he the "big boned" lad who played up front for them? Caused us a few problems but surely too slow for the Football League?

It's a reasonable bet that no one will go down if NL season is scrapped Surely too many sugar daddies in the NL Premier for that to be abandoned? You could be right...but they will all be losing money. Unless they think they can get promoted then what's the incentive to continue? Almost certainly there will be no relegation, so the scrap at the bottom is meaningless. Sadly it means a reprieve for the likes of Dover, Barnet and Yeovil whose chairmen are on the NL board.

The situation regarding Chesterfield gets more crazy by the day. How can they furlough players and yet still sign new players. If a company furloughs employees they are not permitted to employ other people to fulfill their role, surely they’re breaking the furlough rules by doing this. As regards their players getting the vaccine they should be thoroughly ashamed of this, they no doubt have supporters and families of players and staff who are in their 70’s who could have received these jabs. Their whole club is obviously morally corrupt and if I was a supporter I would seriously be thinking about changing my allegiance, they’re an absolute disgrace.

I would imagine he's not on Chesterfield's payroll, seeing as he is on loan. If Blackpool are still paying his wages and Chesterfield pay a set fee to Blackpool, is he still employed by Blackpool FC? A grey area and obviously not in the spirit of the regulations, but that's a potential way around the law as far as I can see

To be fair it does say they are vulnerable people. It isn’t just age-based. I’m 34 and have had mine.

It isn’t just age-based. I’m 34 and have had mine. It says 'most' not all. I would be surprised if that included the players, given both the lack of testing and the frequency of cases of Covid within football to date.

It also says “a small number of players and staff” - it could mean a couple of vulnerable players, some vulnerable staff and some over-70s staff.

True, the ones without underlying conditions could’ve been over 70 though.

Statement from Hereford FC - As previously reported here, we can confirm that the issues, relating to clauses that the FA requested to be deleted, also applied to a number of other contracted players and that following an internal investigation, we have identified issues with a total of nine contracts. Chairman Rob Crawford said: “The situation first came to light mid-January when Lenell brought it to our attention whereby we immediately launched an internal investigation”. “We can confirm that the contract lodged with the FA at the start of the season and the contract we held on file at the club did not match the contract that Lenell himself received. Our internal investigation identified that the same issue applied to the other eight player contracts. “We have now held talks with the players concerned and they have all agreed to the amendments requested by the FA and have signed accordingly. As we have said previously, we thank them for their commitment to the club. “We are appalled by these events and cannot defend these actions. These types of practices will not be tolerated and we will not hesitate to make difficult decisions to ensure this behaviour is dealt with swiftly. “We have submitted our report to the FA and await their response. We hope that this unpleasant episode will come to a conclusion soon and we can all move on”.

'Boreham Wood FC is delighted to announce the signing of fans favourite Tyrone Marsh from Stevenage FC for an undisclosed fee.
Tyrone returns to Meadow Park after missing just four months of our current season, but importantly on an 18-month deal, following his departure from Hertfordshire rivals Stevenage.'
Manager Luke Garrard-
“I want to thank the Chairman for sanctioning the deal as it shows the support and faith he has in me and the dressing room to add the likes of Marshy to the squad given the circumstances and at this stage of the season.”
Southport -
'We are pleased to announce the signings of three players on youth loans from Accrington Stanley. Rhys Fenlon, Harry Perritt and Jack Bolton join the Port from the Sky Bet League One side until 6 March, subject to FA clearance.'

Have Chesterfield signed anyone today? Or are they waiting for them to have had their Covid-19 vaccines first?

Good to see Borehamwood are still able to buy players despite everything I'm sure the fact that Boreham Wood have received £252,000 in National League Covid grants to cover their lost gate money of about £10,000 has nothing to do with this.

Enough of a reason to hope the season is ended until fans are back. Sickening. And the reason we haven't been given any more money.

Following the news that one of their players has tested positive for Covid 19, Chesterfield's players and staff have now entered into a 10 day isolation period. As well as the cancellation of their next three league fixtures, due to competition rules they have also had to forfeit their FA Trophy tie against Aldershot.

All those players huddled together in one changing room must have been a hotbed of the virus.

I see Gary Neville’s play thing have just parted company with Richie Wellens - all his claptrap about giving young British coaches a chance at managing is laughable. Who’s next in line?

A consequence I guess of having owners (Gary Neville especially) who considered finishing second in the Premier League to represent failure when they were playing. It was clear from the Class of 92 series that promotion is expected year after year and even three promotions (and a play-off defeat) in four seasons for B&J wasn't enough to convince Neville and co that they should stay at the helm in the National League.
Can't help thinking that the owners would actually have far more fun at Salford if they didn't want to rush everything. They've climbed four leagues already and are now in the EFL, light years away from when they took over and it should have provided them with a chance to take stock of what has been achieved so far. But it seems instead that promotion is the only expectation and that will probably remain the case in League One whenever they get there.

I've long given up trying to understand the logic of clubs sacking a manager while in 9th place in the highest league they've ever played in, but you'd think of all people Neville, who only played under one manager in his career, would appreciate the value of giving them time. In today's game, Alex Ferguson would never have achieved what he did with Man Utd as he'd have been sacked for going four years without winning a trophy.

I think it's a lack of understanding of the level they are at. Throwing resources at it will help them get to where they want to be eventually, but it's not always achievable straight away. There are established clubs that know what it takes at that level, with settled squads and managers who have had time to build understanding amongst the players etc. Also, they'll be seen as a scalp because of the money they have spend so teams will raise their game to prove a point sometimes. It took FGR a good few years of throwing money at it to eventually just get out of the National League.
I saw the last interview with Wellens which did strike me as a man who didn't have much idea about how to turn things around and was throwing his players under the bus rather than analysing his own performance, but they saw fit to appoint him a matter of months ago so surely they knew the kind of man and manager he is.
