What's your go to album when you're feeling down like today? Personally David Bowie's Black Star is absolute quality when I want a bit of a wallow. Beach House - Bloom Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights Slowdive - Souvlaki Bon Iver - For Emma, Forever AgoTame Impala - Currents Caribou - Suddenly Ghostpoet - I Grow Tired But Dare Not Fall Asleep The Smiths - The Queen Is DeadArcade Fire - The Suburbs M83 - Hurry Up, We’re Dreaming No-Man - Together We’re Stranger Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes James Blake - James Blake LCD Soundsystem - American Dream Bonnie Prince Billy - I See A Darkness Sufjan Stevens - Illinois Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy Grimes - Visions Grouper - Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill William Basinski - The Disintegration LoopsAgree with the ones highlighted. I've mentioned Low before on this thread. Their early stuff is so sad and minimalist it's brutal. 'I Could Live in Hope' and 'Long Division' are good albums to start with. Red House Painters album 'Rollercoaster' is another one. I think officially it's self-titled but it has a picture of a dilapidated roller-coaster on the front. Several Sigur Ros albums, particularly the brackets () one. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds album 'Skeleton Tree', written and recorded around his son's death, is pretty heartbreaking. Finally, either of the two Joy Division albums. 'Closer' is hard to listen to I think with it basically being a suicide note.

Tina Turner passes away at 83 She was good back in the day when she was a Soul singer (Somebody Needs You, I'm Gonna Do All I Can To Do Right By My Man etc) but then she sold out and in my humble opinion became just another "Wedding Song Singer"

Tina Turner passes away at 83 Not really my sort of music, but a great performer. I appreciate any singer where you know it's them as soon as you hear their voice. Cleggy will be gutted. He must've played "Simply The Best" more times than any other song at the Deva over the years.

Just been watching top of the pops 1994 whigfield snap the cranberries great days Love watching the TOTP reruns. In a funny way, just as entertaining as the good songs are the dross time has forgotten like C J Lewis and 2wo Third3. It's also interesting to see how often they backed the wrong horse. For example a few weeks ago they were bigging up an exclusive performance from indie also-rans These Animal Men, when also making their debut on the same episode were Oasis.

Two great albums released already this year: Billy Nomates - Cacti Italia 90 - Living Human Treasure Enjoying Iggy's latest as well. Still going at 75! Billy Nomates took me by surprise a bit - my first exposure to her was actually her feature on the Mods’ previous album a couple of years ago but this was the first full-length album of hers I’d heard. Its unusual sound encompassing multiple different genres probably won’t be to everyone’s tastes but I found it a really fun listen; the title track is probably my favourite song of the year so far. Sounds like Billy has had enough. Says she's not performing any more after getting abuse on the BBC 6 Music groups, which I've never been on but by all accounts that are some right pricks on them. Hope she reconsiders. She gets overwhelmingly praised and it seems like she needs to stay off social media and forums. I've been watching bits of Glasto, saw Shame today who are amazing live, Generation Sex (Billy Idol with ex-Sex Pistols members basically), Foo Fighters and Chvrches. Will check out Slowdive and Viagra Boys tomorrow. Always seems a bit empty watching festivals on TV though.

Just watching Elton John absolutely brilliant just wonder how many of today's "musicians" will be at Glastonbury when they are 76 years old

I mean he makes it look that way from countless hours perfecting his craft. Superb stuff.

Biggest selling albums of all time:
1. Michael Jackson - Thriller 2. Eagles - Greatest Hits 1971-75 3. Eagles - Hotel California 4. Shania Twain - Come On Over 5. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV 6. Whitney Houston - The Bodyguard Soundtrack 7. Fleetwood Mac - Rumours 8. AC/DC - Back In Black 9. Adele - 21 10. Alanis Morrissette - Jagged Little Pill
I’m absolutely all over Rumours lately, unbelievable album. Shania’s is full of bangers too.

I'd never have thought Shania Twain had sold that many. I'd struggle to name two songs by her.
I remember Jagged Little Pill seemed to be number 1 album throughout 1995.

Both on that album. That was worldwide fame but as I said in the previous post don’t underestimate the power of Country and Western in a huge market such as the USA.

A bit late to the Glastonbury discussion but I thought Queens of the Stone Age were excellent, definitely worth watching if it's still up on iPlayer. I'm never sure how I feel about Josh Homme, seems a hard bloke to like - I'm a big fan of Kyuss and the first couple of QOTSA records but haven't bought anything after Songs for the Deaf.

Best Glasto performances were Shame and Viagra Boys for me. The bloke from Viagra Boys is pure entertainment. Best frontman around! I'll say Moby. Saw him on that tour. Unbelievable every song a hit everyone knew because it was an advert theme. Also a brilliant performer. Remember BBC presenters say here's Moby then when he finished they were all gobsmacked at his performance.
