Who performed to the most people in a live concert? Also how many were there. Never thought it was them! Not sure if it's been beaten but used to be Rod Stewart, free gig somewhere that I can't remember a few million there.

Biggest surprise of the year for me is '90s shoegaze also-rans Drop Nineteens, best known for the awesome single 'Winona', reforming and releasing their first album in 30 years. An even bigger surprise is it's better than anything they did before!

What's your go to album when you're feeling down like today? Personally David Bowie's Black Star is absolute quality when I want a bit of a wallow. Returning to this theme. Currently working nights and this playlist is keeping me great company.

Jazzy - she’s an Irish-Jamaican DJ, producer and vocalist from Dublin who is big on the house scene currently.

I love a bit of post punk, cheers for the link, will have a listen later, especially as I've got the winter blues right now.

I love a bit of post punk, cheers for the link, will have a listen later, especially as I've got the winter blues right now. It's pretty obscure stuff from all over Europe. The only band I know of on it is Molchat Doma, who I've mentioned on this thread. I'm fascinated by this Soviet and Eastern European post-punk scene. While a lot of UK and US bands are just trying to recreate the song of bands like Joy Division, somehow it seems more authentic and real over there.

On the subject of post punk bands, very sad that Geordie Walker of Killing Joke died in the past week at 64 from a stroke at his Prague home. Can't see Killing Joke being a band any more without him.

This just reflects how many Christmas playlists people are listening to.

Yes since streaming and downloads started being included it’s the same around Christmas time every year.
Will be playing that festive Jack Harlow song on Christmas morning.

Which I get, you have to take the changing ways people are listening to music into consideration. But I'm not really comfortable with a song from 1984 being reported as "finally number 1" what you can't really compare the charts now and then, nor the likes of Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles having their chart records compared like for like with those of Elvis and the Beatles.

Under-appreciated guitar solos:
Mike Oldfield’s in Moonlight Shadow Dave Flett’s in Blinded By The Light by Manfred Mann’s Earth Band (long version) The electronic sequencer and vocoded synthesizer in Daft Punk’s Digital Love - not a guitar but close enough

What were your favourite albums from this year? Personally, I’m struggling to look beyond MF Tomlinson’s wonderfully epochal ‘We Are Still Wild Horses’, complete with 21-minute title track:
For sheer levels of fun, though, I ought to give a shout-out to Young Fathers’ ‘Heavy Heavy’ and Fucked Up’s ‘One Day’:

I was pleasantly suprised with the new Stones album 'Hackney Diamonds' the same producer did a great job on Iggy Pops 'Every Loser' album as well. I have a weakness for indie/folk King Creasote whose released a new album this year, great album.
