Slightly disappointing that on the surface of things it appears that JM will again be stood by himself on the touch line. Shaw is still likely to be a starter and would appear to have a couple more years left in terms of playing, so seems perhaps a bit early for him to be assuming this role.
Shaw has had a good season and would want him on the pitch next season, but then we still have the problem of not having an assistant manager on the touchline for JM to bounce ideas off. Unless his playtime will be reduced.
Good news, Iwelumo not able to commit enough to the Assistant Managers role. Glad to see Tom Shaw step up to the plate. Good opportunity for him now to cut his teeth in coaching/management.
From what Hunt has put on twitter he's been delt with quite unprofessionally by McCarthy. He says he was offered a new contract in January and was told it was in the post and he was fully committed to signing.

If the clubs post is the same as it's pipeline, he'd have been waiting until 2018.
POWER, PASSION, PLAYS A DOUBLE HAND UNION UNION UNION CITY MAN
Rooney and Hunt are big mates, wouldn't be surprised to see them back playing together possibly at Fylde as has been rumoured. Good luck to them both, gave good service to Chester although both divided opinion.
Interesting that Hunt says he wanted to stay at Chester. Seems McCarthy assumes he isn't good enough, a bit strange for the Players' Player of the Season!
4 Youth team players in our first team squad, with one more of ours destined for the championship. The football of late hasn't be up to scratch, but there's clearly a lot to look forward to from the youth team. Well done all.

Don't know if i'm pleased of concerned. Don't get me wrong, it's great these lads are getting a chance, but it all comes down to if they are up to it. Evans wasn't. What is all three of them can;t cut the mustard, we will have such a thin squad. I think Nathan Brown is a prospect and will actually surprise us. I just hope they all can.

After quite a miserable time at the club recently, the news of three youth players gaining pro contracts is brilliant. I know the academy is run on such a small budget and they are still producing more players than most at our level. I really hope they see some of the Sam hughes money so we can protect our best youth players and give them every chance of succeeding. Amazing that this is being done by an academy with one paid member of staff

how negative are you?? What if they cant cut the mustard? This sort of attitude is why everyone says our fans are so pessimistic. Not even a day after they have signed and we are questioning whether they can cut it

With Swettenham's financing their contracts, we wouldn't have lost anything, even in the worst case scenario - if they don't cut the mustard. Best case scenario, they kick on with us, become valuable squad members and maybe even make us some money in the long-run.
I haven't seen any of the youth games, but can anyone give an insight into the strengths of these lads?
With the release of the ex-Wrexham players I wonder if there was more to it than meets the eye?
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Obviously with hunt winning players player of the year he was very well thought of by his peers. This, along with the seemingly apparent loss of the dressing room by JM it looks like he's trying to break up a clique that may have developed.

I went to the youth cup games. Nathan Brown was outstanding in both games and arguably won the games for Chester. I follow CFCAcademy on twitter and he always scoring. James Jones looks like a conference centre half. He was sublime in the youth cup matches and will be interested to see how he does. I dont know as much about Tom Crawford.

It's a case of being realistic not negative. If these lads are to play a part in our season, they have to be able to perform. Like I said I think Nathan Brown is a real player, but I've not seen enough of the other two lads to really comment on them until next season. I did say I hope they can perform at this level, but from Experience we all know it doesn't always work out.
In other news Horwood has signed a rolling contract and it should be announced soon.

What's interesting about Hunt is that whilst collecting his award on Saturday night his speech was a particularly strong and staunch defence of McCarthy. He almost seemed to actually go after a handful who have taken their criticism a bit far.
Hopefully James Jones will be in the Sam Hughes mould then - physically ready to compete.
I've heard that Nathan Brown is very talented, albeit a slight frame. Some of my favourite players of all time have been short - Peter Beardsley for example. Not to mention the greatest player in the World at the moment! Hopefully he has nimble feet, enough to throw the Conference 'bruisers' off their stride as they'll inevitably look to target his slight frame.
I wish them all the very best. Love seeing local lads given a chance.

Although we do not have a reserve team these lads will get the chance to play friendlies against other clubs. They have the chance to develop as well as giving us the extra bodies for these matches
Seen Durrel has gone onto twitter to thank the fans and wishing us well. I have noticed he's another player that was offered a new contract in January only to have it withdrawn. Him and Hunt were decent players for us and have been pretty much been mistreated here.

I have read somewhere on Facebook that Hudson claims the same. Offered contract in January only to have it withdrawn. Obviously no idea if true but if it is it does feel a pretty shabby way to deal with people. Whether you rate these players or not they have a right to know what is happening with them, and it is their job/livelihood on the line. Hopefully they all get something sorted (I'm sure they will).
And before anyone starts I don't think they all deserved a contract or am that disappointed they've gone, but more that they were offered a contract and had it withdrawn. Makes you wonder if something has gone on. Also if they were offered and happy with contracts in January why they didn't sign them then.

I see your point Blue, but at the same time....I can understand why! Did anyone really do enough after Christmas to Warrant a new contract? Other than Astles, if probably say no! Looking at who's been signed up from last season, it's lads who were unlucky with injury and a couple of top performers.
glad kane has gone his attitude on the pitch this season was rubbish i seriously thought he might make a massive impact player but how wrong i was i'd rather jamie rainford over richards and that's saying a lot
