Will Marsh and Joyce are north west counties standard at best got a feeling Joyce will be loaned out at Christmas Agree, but unfortunately an administrative "mistake" may mean that we may have to sign Marsh, ask your local CFU board member for clarification.

I suspect we might be playing more 3 5 2 next season. Could George play there in a 3 with Astles and one other? Horwood is fine as a wing back. Having a 3 in midfield helps us not getting out muscled, and we can then also have 2 upfront. Difficult to see how Hunt, Hudson and Durrell would have fitted into that formation. If Arsene McCarthy insists on playing 3-5-2 we're doomed. Woking ripped us apart down the flanks and they were as bad as us. Just stick to 4-4-2. Keep it nice and rigid and make it hard for teams to break us down. Strangely enough, that's what we did during 'that run' of games. the tactics, formation and shape of the team in the final quarter of the season was a shambles, I'd go as far to say embarrassing at times. And the buck on that one stops with the manager I'm afraid. We were playing that deep at times that 4-4-2 and 3-5-2 were the same - 8 in defence.😬

1974 when we got to the league cup final. We used to go in the Watergate and walk down for those evening fixtures.Nothing could match the atmosphere for those big games and we never thought we'd lose. heard the watergate has been bought by the racecourse and is to be knocked down for a better entrance , semi final by the way.

Fantastic news in regards to Alex Lynch. A great goalie who will only get better. Plus Dave Felgate has an improved role here which will help Lynch. Great re-signing. All the best Alex!

The $40,000 question on everyone's lips is ....has Rio been signed on for next season as he certainly covered far more match miles than most of the players chasing wayward aimless balls 😁

Said Hi and shook his hand at the end of the Bordom match. This club needs more Rios 👍

I see that we are quoted at 50-1 for the title next season with Skybet - or in other words they see us as being relegated.

I see that we are quoted at 50-1 for the title next season with Skybet - or in other words they see us as being relegated. If you take a look at Statto.com we have the lowest form rating of all the clubs in or likely to be in the Conference next season. It is a comment on how bad 2017 has been, as if we didn't already know but also how much of an improvement we need to make in the new season. I think we have started that improvement, but we need a few new first team players yet.

I am a goalkeeper for the team I play for, so if we only have Alex Lynch signed on for this season I would quite happily sign a rolling contract, and put 100% effort in every week 😉👍.

Excellent news regarding Matty. Hopefully gets a bit more game time next season. Always great to see lads progress from youth to first team, doesn't happen enough for us sadly.

The more game time he gets the more confidence he will build. I think he has good vision and if he can learn to take a player on a bit more could develop into an attacking wide player with quite a bit of flair.
I wouldn't put him the first XI quite yet, but he could be an effective sub to give us some width or even as a full back.

If i was him, i'd try to tell JM my preferred position and stick to it. If he wants to be a full back or a winger it will help his development playing in that position consistently, rather than swapping and changing.

Joined the senior squad as a centre midfielder, was pushed into the role of centre half by the coaching staff and manager!

Potential yes, worth a two year contract? I don't know Matty's favoured position and let's be honest he wasn't even making the bench at times last season. Any opinions or am I just being negative like another certain poster from Tarvin?

Sutton signed Kenny Davies (Boreham) & Ross Lafayette (Dover). Davis is a really tidy player at this level, I was surprised he stooped to Boreham Wood this season to be honest. Lafayette is just pretty much just par for the course at this level really. Neither particularly impressive nor disappointing, he’ll probably prove to be solid enough for them.

I don't know Matty's favoured position and let's be honest he wasn't even making the bench at times last season. Any opinions or am I just being negative like another certain poster from Tarvin? I doubt he'll be on much wages wise. I'll be honest every time I've seen Waters play he's not really impressed me, although there were reports of him having good games specifically away from home (Torquay springs to mind). He's got useful pace, looks tidy with the ball at his feet and has a good dead ball delivery on him. Didn't he score 20 odd for the youth team from LB? The only criticism of him is he's incredibly lightweight but no more lightweight than Chappell or Mahon and Waters is still developing physiologically. The two year contract could allow us to loan Waters out to a Conf North team if he's not getting a look in, similar to what happened with Hughes at Witton. On the other hand if he has a half decent season and someone comes in for him we're in a strong position to demand what we want for him. All in all it's a good decision by McCarthy, probably his first of the calendar year.
