I'm happy with the two deals. Chappell is a good impact sub who uses width which is what we have been lacking recently. It was a shame for him to be injured as he was very consistent towards the back end of last year but if he is on a low wage I am more than happy to see him stay. I'm pleased with the Davies one too. I thought that he did deserve to warrant a contract at the end of the season. Don't forget he was played out of position but he still scored that powerful header against Woking. A six month contract is just about right as he will probably be on a low wage and if he has a bad patch the club could decide let him go whereas if he was on a longer contract he would have to stay. Of course, that hopefully won't happen and I'm happy they have both signed on. What strikes me is that Macca is very keen to get everything done now which can restore optimism to some of the apathetic supporters. Unlike last year when we had a long wait for our first signing. Credit must go to him. If he wanted a cure for apathy he shouldnt be signing Chappell .The most important attribute for any footballer is commitment .Chappel doesnt know the meaning of the word . He is one of the biggest wage thieves i have ever seen in 40 years of watching the game

How come with most of the signings we have made people keep saying he can make an impact from the bench. At this rate we will have more sitting on the bench than out on the pitch.

How do we know Hudson, Durrell et al were big earners? Wasn't Hudson released by Wrexham and was without a club for several weeks before Chester took him on? That would surely be a case of being able to get him in for a low wage? The idea behind my assumption is that the manager has staunchly defended his players despite the poor run so I doubt they have been carted off due to the terrible second half of the season on the pitch. You could argue why have the players not yet agreed a deal offered in January, I suppose. Four of the six released seem miffed that the contract offer has been pulled from them now. I suspect our budget can no longer afford them. Why would the manager release four of his preferred starting X1 (including "BEST EVER SIGNING" Hudson) yet keep hold of the likes of Chappell and Davies, probably George and Joyce too? Cheap options. Interesting way of looking at it, I genuinely hadn't thought of it like that. My suspicion is that JM made offers to players when we were in the top half and everybody was happy. I'd presume the offers have been pulled due to the horrendous turn of form since then and JM knew that unless he provided real change then his head was absolutely on the block. Not certain I'd class Durrell, Hudson, Hunt and Richards as our big earners anyway, none of them came from anywhere that would dictate a high salary.

I really can't fathom how Jordan Chappell can get away with a third season at the club. It's unbelievable.
For all the stick Kane Richards took, he was more effective than JC and actually fit enough to play too. It concerns me slightly that he's part of the squad.

So far I'd say the most pleasing signings are Astles and White. Mahon can be fantastic but needs to stay fit or we may as well have kept Richards!! Chappell will maybe have 1 decent game in 15 being generous. I'm only praying he's that cheap that he's making way for a quality addition to the starting 11. We've got 4 young lads, Davies and Chappell so far out of about 10 players. For me that's a worry unless we sign some decent players proven at this level. Striker is a must as Whites goal tally is similar to that of Durrells last season, need to replace Alabis goals somehow. Although White will only improve may bag us 15-20.

If Akintunde can stay fit he'll get 15 goals no danger. Great first touch and quick. Exciting player but all depends on his fitness.

I don't mind Joyce as he'll get on a very minimal wage and has been decent as a back up. He's obviously not a starter, but will provide some depth for little cost. As for George, I hope he doesn't re-sign but I think we all know it's going to happen.........

Chappell was arguably our best player in December, then got unfortunate with his double injury, I'm happy to see him stay; he'll add width and pace, which we have lacked. White got 12 goals in a fairly poor Solihull team, I believe he can push on this year. Take out Alabi's penalties and he probably only scored 11-12. I know White scored a penalty and our place but I'm not sure if he has scored many pens as he hasn't been a first team regular, which makes it even sweeter that he has bagged 12 goals; whilst playing significantly less than Alabi. I've got confidence in Harry than he can better Alabi's 17. Akintunde has show promise in his short stints in the team, more promise than Richards in his whole spell here to be honest... Akintunde can bag 15-20 too in my opinion, if he stays fit, so potentially we could have 30+ goals in our strike partnership if things go well.

Personally underwhelmed by the latest re-signings, stinks of a cheap option and at best bench warming players. Chappel does have pace and could be an impact last 20 minute player potentially. Davies, very surprised at the decision to offer the lad a 6 month deal, yes he may have a half decent left foot given time and space but id go as far to say he's as slow a player who has ever donned the blue and white I have ever seen. Hopefully George and Joyce will not re-sign, we need some first eleven players coming in, bit of genuine pace especially in the middle of the park and in the full back positions. Let's hope for some more exciting news in the days and weeks ahead.

Both lads are capable but white only made 19 starts due to injury. Akintunde even less. Nobody can guarantee fitness of course but it's diving with danger to rest goal hopes on two lads who were in the wars last season.

So we have re-signed three players that spent much of the season out injured, Astles who had a torrid second half of the season, Davies who looked nowhere near National League level and White. Add in the likelihood of Joyce and George in the coming days. Am I missing something? I can only apologise for not yet reaching the heights of over excitement that will lead me down to the stadium to eagerly purchase a season ticket.

High tempo player who can pick a pass. Always impresses every time I see him play. Him and a nasty tall ball winner in the middle is what we are crying out for. I really hope McCarthy doesn't go back for Lloyd. Lightweight player with no particular strength. The midfield was dreadful last season and needs totally gutting. Lloyd, Joyce and George are dreadful.

No problem with Astles though he could do with a stone off him. Signing or re-signing players with dubious injury history is a big gamble, especially working with a limited budget and smallish squad size.

It's a physical league and we were too small and lightweight last season Throw in a Milton Graham type player, someone who can beat a man in midfield. Let's be clear, a midfield consisting of Joyce, George, Shaw, Davies, Chappel and Mahon isn't going to be anywhere near good enough.

Looks like the moaners have returned then. Two decent squad players come back and so do you! These past two re-signings and what I anticipate is the next few will be mostly for squad depth, new signings will hopefully be first team players! Keep the faith.

Even though we lost it ome of the best games for me - great all round team performance. However, it became a big turning point in our form with Hunt's sending off and subsequent three match ban.

Wouldn't class myself as a moaner, am just being honest and saying things the way I see things at the moment, yes the last few months of last season dragged me down and maybe turned my glass to half empty rather than half full. Let's carry this conversation on again if the likes of George and Joyce re-sign. How many "squad" players can we afford to carry? I hope your right in terms of further players being first teamers because we need some hope for next season plus the boost for season tickets is an absolute must.

Some posters only accept deluded optimism. It's going to need a lot more than what's been announced thus far to suddenly send season ticket sales through the roof. I'm still trying to get my head around this 'improved budget' story being distributed. Considering we haven't sold one season ticket yet, and we will be lucky to sell 500, we must have some incredible sponsorship deals 'in the pipeline'. Good to see some people justifying certain players retention based on one good game. The mind only boggles! Astles and White are reasonable signings. Akintunde and Mahon, if they can stay fit, will add something to the squad. The rest wouldn't make the bench of most National League sides.

Did we sell over 1000 season tickets last season? Rightly or wrongly I think we will do well to shift 500 next season, that's probably at least 100k difference out of the budget. Let's hope we recoup that figure from the Sam Hughes tribunal and we get the money straight away because as stated by Tarvin Blue that's one hell of a short fall to make up elsewhere!

I'm with you re. Ryan Lloyd. I was disappointed with him. Rarely seen him tackle and too easily lost possession. Haven't seen enough of Dawson to know whether he might offer something. Perhaps he will be a 6 month contract option
