Dudley playing like an ex pro in a charity match. So unfit still. It’s embarrassing to watch. Always favoured the keeper in that one and one. What about for the goals he scored? Did you favour the keeper then? 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

As someone else pointed out, it’s his first goals in forever but hopefully he can build on that and become a key player this season!

Not fuming at all but I'm not just going to change my opinion on him like that because of 1 good game. He needs to be consistent in front of goal & make things happen every game. He did well today but it took him a year to score that's nowhere near good enough. He'll sit me down if he does it week in week out which let's be honest given his goal record is highly unlikely.

Dudley playing like an ex pro in a charity match. So unfit still. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Piss off. Glad he shut the haters up today, playing further forward than he’s been deployed since Asante signed. How old are you? Do you know you're talking to a fellow fan? Dudley splits opinion - not a big deal. Well done for backing him, he's finally paid you back, but why are you so angry with other fans? It's like watching a group of 14 year-olds watching you lot ganging up and finding the smallest excuse to give people a kicking over their opinion. Great win today, loads to be positive about. Again.

I forgot to mention Lynch today who really is a very tidy and industrious player. Goes under the radar but rarely misplaces a pass.

Back on todays attendance, I think I and a few of us expected a small boost after Oldham but in reality, for the lesser known teams, we do well to get 1700-1800 and then nearer 2,000 for the likes of Hereford and Kiddy.
Be nice to average over 2,000 for a season, think we’ve only done it once or twice in last 7 year and only by a few.
Just don’t know what else we can do? Get out this league?

Getting out of this league would be a start. But then again a lot of other clubs in the national league don't have big away followings either. The only time we get decent away followings is in the league, and that's a long way off yet

If we’re playoffs end of year then perhaps so, but don’t get this blind assumption of him that he’ll be the next big thing. That’s not a slight at Cal, but he’s got a lot to do here before stepping up surely. Temper them expectations.

We look light years ahead of where we were last season. Players look leaner, sharper. This time last season a number of players looked generally unfit and sluggish. It's like night and day if you compare us to 12 months ago. Progress for me has been 1. Not bowing out of the cup first time of asking - achieved 2. Putting a good run in the FA Trophy 3. Top half in the NLN I think some of the players today have carried those performances from the 2 Cup games into the league and seen what they can achieve IF they can maintain standards. I get a real sense that we're starting to click now, if we can pick up a big win on Tuesday then it really will feel that we're on the cusp of something special

Just don’t want us building him up too much - we’re ticking along well now and figuring out a style of play, but rightly so, we need start becoming a Tuesday Saturday machine in the league. We’ve got one of the biggest budgets in recent years so playoffs should be our main goal. I’m 50\50 on Fa Trophy….worth it over potential injuries in league and fatigue?

He does it every game. Even when it isn't his day his movement and workrate is exceptional. Agree but he does need to pass forward occasionally though. Did plenty of times today. Could see him get frustrated today having to pass backwards because of lack of movement from the forward players, screamed at the strikers a couple of times because they were static, this was the first half.

Chuffed for Dudley to get a brace. He's a confidence player, hopefully today will spur him on to return to his goal scoring antics. He's had to change his role in the team. When he first came on loan he was an out and out striker, and was our top goal scorer. As we started to sign other strikers, he's then had more of a supporting role, so the direct goal involvements have dropped, with him more likely being the assistor to the assist.
Kurt did him a big favour today, pretty much playing on the wing, with Dudley playing down the middle, evidently his preferred position.
Saying that, we aren't going to play Kettering every week, probably the least threatening side I've seen this year at the deva

What a last few days it's been for us all. Never been so proud of us, players, management team & fans coming together & giving us some great moments this past week that I don't think any of us will forget in a hurry. On & off the pitch the way this club handles itself is simply incredible & I have so much love for our great club. Back to league action tomorrow & obviously we're winning. We're due a big win & if we play half as well as we did against Oldham we still batter them. Chester 4 - Kettering 0Willoughby 2, Hall & Weeks. Come on Chester. My scoreline was spot on. Knew it was only a matter of time before we battered someone. Hugely disappointed we couldn't even manage over 2000 though, what are the 1200 or so fans from the other night doing on a Saturday that's more important?? Delighted Dudley scored today, been a critic of him so hopefully he can push on now. It’s half term for most folk at the moment which may account for some of those who came on Tue not coming today…?

Yeah we lost 1300 people due to half term 😂😂😂 We’re back to reality now. Dunno why anyone is arsed anyway. Sure if we got 2.3k gates every weekend we’d piss this league but we won’t so simple as that. Only thing we can do is perform like this team is more than capable of doing and getting in the playoffs come end of April and hope that we go up

Kettering were shite and like one of their fans said on Twitter they are that bad away 11 of us fans could’ve played and still beaten them. Can’t argue with that they offered nothing. Game was shocking first half as we literally did fuck all. Got 5 yards further up the pitch start of second half and we scored straight away. Doesn’t take much to get out of this league really. This team is more than good enough to get in playoffs and get out of this division. Now is the perfect time to kick on and win games and show teams they have to fear playing us at the deva. Use the home form in conjunction with being solid away from home and we’ll be playing notts county, Chesterfield, Scunny and the goat shite more often where we can get over 3k gates no issue

Its also a big ask to expect people to do 3 or 4 games, in a very short space of time, in the present fiancial climate.

Easiest win we’ll have all season, Kettering offered nothing. I like how Cal has seemingly got his system of nullifying the opposition until half time and then going for it in the second half (whether deliberate or not) and it’s paying off.
Made up for Dudley to bag a couple, and he almost had the perfect hat-trick. As someone else said above Dudley hit double figures in his first season here but has been used in a deeper playmaking role ever since Asante signed. He seemed more of a forward today with King Kurt and Hall splitting wide. Usually he’d be the first to be subbed for Stevo but I think we all wanted to see him get a hat-trick so he stayed on.
Thought our first half play was very congested down the middle again with this system of three out and out forwards up front, felt we were trying to Barcelona our way to goal and then Barcelona an actual goal - especially with Weeks. We all know what a classy player he is but he’s proven in the past that he can fire a goal from outside the box or provide a quick assist so it was frustrating to see all the tiki-taka attempts almost slowing the game down.
Second half though was a different beast. Weeks pinging them from deep was unreal - the pass to Hall for the first-time VAN BASTEN strike that narrowly missed the top corner was superb. The full backs got forward more and the substitutes (Stevo, Devine and Murray) got us driving forward with the ball at a tiring defence. Great to see us launching wave after wave of attack like that when we’re flying and comfortable.
Our defence (including Tyrer and Robbo) enjoyed a breather after a mammoth effort over 210+ minutes last week, had nothing to do but Williams was outstanding again in the air. Took his goal really well too, you don’t expect a towering centre half going up for a corner to be scoring a skilled angled volley like that, superb.
A word on the midfield three - Robbo, Lynch and Weeks is a great balance and they’ve been class all week. With Devine and Murray offering something when they came on and Lewis Earl supposedly our best defensive midfielder who we haven’t even seen yet then you can’t see club captain George Glendon getting into this team at all. The depth in that position is crazy.
Final word on the attendance - it was slightly more than I expected to be honest. Thought we’d be getting around 1,700 so an extra hundred and probably an extra 200 on usual crowd for a game like this at this time of the year. No way were going to pull in well over 2,000 regardless of last Tuesday’s outcome. A female colleague at work told me the other day that they had their schools season ticket for todays game. She’s got two daughters and a husband, she and her daughters have never been into football whatsoever, never watched a game in their lives, the feller is an armchair PL follower I believe but they all really enjoyed the whole experience today. Banksy and his juniors handing out blue and white flags for every single kid who walked into the West Stand was a great touch to that matchday experience too.
All in all a great day today. More of the same Tuesday night now, this run of games is a great opportunity to propel up the table.
Bring it on x

Yes there are some big clubs a league above us but I'm not sure it would make a world of difference.
