Trouble is when we go a goal down that's the game done & dusted there & then. I knew we'd lose when they scored as we just lack so much creativity & threat going forward. We just knock it around all very neat & tidily for the most part but ineffective when trying to score. Teams have figured out our tactics too, it's all becoming a bit predictable. Time wasting & poor refs don't help the situation but you still have to deal with that as we've all come to expect it from sides in this league.
Most entertaining part of the game for me was watching Stanway push one of their players over.
Will give credit to Buxton, not a particularly good footballing side, however they defended very well & we never really threatened them.

We played far too deep with back 3431, 541, 343 or knocking it about at the back and side ways tripe whatever he is using questions need to be asked of Cal Mac right now that tonight just isnt good enough at all for this club. Wingers are needed in this team right now go 442 with back to basics football rather than play a formation that Pep would use in the prem. A Experienced manager at this level is what we need its not working for Cal tonight just proved it.

Windsor, Clarke, Daly and Heywood/Woodthorpe must be wondering how bad the team needs to play before they get a chance. Norton could be a half decent winger at this level, just look at the lad that gave Roberts and Williams nightmares tonight, he looks quick enough but definitely not a back to goal striker, him and Hall are a pretty terrible front two pairing as neither are physical enough. Would be nice to see them play either side of Peers but that would mean dropping one of the CMs, and that’s not allowed. Anyone saying Cal out is bonkers but I think it’s fair enough to expect this slump to end quickly. Norton looked good wide left cutting in when he arrived, all away games that barely anyone has seen. Hasn't been used there since and seems to be the unfortunate one to cop all the anger on here tonight for some reason. Poor sod. I’d agree away from home when he’s played he has showed promise particularly when played in a wider position he’s got the pace for that. His strength isn’t his back to goal being expected to hold it up etc. there is a player there for sure we just have not played to his strengths when he’s played. He wants giving the ball and being allowed to run at defenders or being slipped in down the channels which we haven’t done for him as yet. I’m convinced he could be a good asset for us if we can find a way to play to his strengths

I said the Gloucester result was flattering and unfortunately i am proven right, we were really poor tonight, tactically naive , one nil down after 2 minuets and insist in passing the ball in our own half for what felt like 88 plus minutes of the game , the players who are capable of running with the ball we either don't feed them or we take them off. We can't seem to play any other way, its so frustrating to watch and other teams just push us deeper into our half. I possess no coaching qualification but its so obvious, plan B needs executing sooner not in the last 5 minutes of the game. We must change our style of play sooner.
Weeks MOTM, total piss take all he did was loose the ball or pass it to Glendon in our half, did the sponsors watch the game ? Our first half corner technique was total joke, embarrassing to watch, 4 man taking a corner FFS cubs football, a total waste of time, what do we do in our limit training sessions.
Before we are to critical of Norton are we asking him to play out of his natural position ?
The Ref and West stand Lino absolute pants.

Disappointed to see us shaking their hands, genuinely hope their coach breaks down on the way home too. Ultimately down to the refs to stop it though. They were pretty hot on it earlier in the season but pundits slagged them off for it, so now they've gone back to asking players nicely to hurry up, doing that rolling hands gesture, and possibly booking a player for timewasting in the 89th minute.

I understand the 4 man corner because it takes 3-4 men out of defence, but we then take a short corner and the player it goes to is under pressure. It needs to go straight into the penalty box. Also please please when we get a free kick 30 yards out can we stop passing it sideways or backwards.

Stanway was mom for flattening their player and making a vital save to stop going 0-2. Table doesn’t lie we are bang average with certain players off form I include Williams, Weeks and Roberts in that list.

Three points from the last four games, when three of them are at home to sides in the bottom half, is rubbish really. We seem to do better against the stronger sides and are taking a lot of points off them. I still think we'll sneak a playoff place for that reason. But we're undoing a lot of good results from earlier in the season.

Sounds like we’ve picked up a few more injuries tonight, Coates probably out for a while with a shoulder injury. At least Cal says it as it is and is hopeful of strengthening the squad in several areas. One being a loan of an experienced player out of favour with his club! 🤔

There is something to be said about playing those three together but it’s Whitehouse who has dipped actually. Glendon still influential and Weeks is Weeks. In any case the balance is all wrong at the moment IMO. The midfield ballers suddenly look shoe-horned into the team. All the possession but didn’t create anything tonight. Sorry but so similar to the last days of B&J in the we can only play in a certain way due to the players we have. The 5 man midfield is necessary to compensate for the defensive weakness of Weeks and Glendon and to maximise their creativity. They need a defensive midfield player behind them. They are effective in and around the opposition box. However, if you play the poccession based game at a snails pace ,with slow build up play from the back. It gives teams the opportunity to defend in depth and given our lack of cutting edge pace and width in the final third we often struggle to break teams down. However, if we went 4-4-2 . Then it's difficult to see how the trio fit into this system. For me a plan B has been required for ages as the current system has become too predictable and too easy to play against. For me it needs more physicality in key areas and fleshing up with a couple of experienced players. Last season Cal experimented with different systems like the 4-3-3. We need to get back to a different approach and a tactical re think as this is clearly not working.i would also give Woodthorpe and Clarke some game time and get Burke into midfield to give us something a little different. Another reason it looks stale is that this year's recruitment has been so poor. Not one player signed thus season has improved the team. Last seasons team with Willoughby Dudley Kenyon and Stevenson was much stronger.

Dire. Absolutely dire. Knew after about 2 minutes of the second half what was going to happen. No-one played well. Should have cancelled the MOTM award, farcical giving it to Weeks. As others have said recruitment has been poor. It was just so boring to watch. Forget the play offs. Isn't happening.

Shite. Cal has to take a lot of the blame. Wasted the first 20 minutes of the second half allowing us to continue in exactly the same ineffective vain of the first half. He doesn’t have the answers when we go behind sadly it seems. Team was poor overall, special mention for Joel Taylor who cannot seem to hit a blue shirt no matter what and as for our top scorer, captain, leader and People’s Princess, I’m sure his Paul Burrell will be on here soon how privileged we are to watch him, but he was absolutely wank. your right about Taylor but harsh on Glendon he's a top player Sorry - he isn’t. He has absolutely no physical presence, bottles loads of challenges for fear of getting hurt and gives us nothing as captain because he is quiet all game. He’d be the first midfielder I’d replace. Taking off Murray last night was bonkers - at least he wins us the odd free kick - that said we then just waste them by passing 3 yds backwards…but only once seven let the opposition get 11 men behind the ball and set up properly.

Give Clarke a go or get a proper targetman.

Where’s the same hate for the golden boys who had a stinker? Why the usual suspects?
Someone even tried blaming another player for the mistake that led to the goal.
Always a scapegoat(s). It was a poor team performance.

Stanway Burke Williams Woodthorpe Coates Weeks Roberts Taylor Glendon Peers Clarke Got to try something different, that’s the best I can think of with current available players. Murray to come on and shit the opposition up last half hour. Presumably you’re expecting Taylor to learn how to cross a ball in the coming weeks? Id like to see Burke in your midfield 4 that could give us a bit more physicality and drive, the way we are playing at the mo isn’t going to put bums on seats, or get us to the playoffs Like I said earlier, big test for Cal next few games. Having watched Chorley the other week, we are going to get a good tonking there, pretty physical with speed out wide Swap Burke and Roberts then, bit more physicality and height and drive in midfield and Robbo can marshall the younger defenders alongside him. Taylor because Heywood is currently out on loan 🤷🏻♂️

Buxton were big and strong and once they went ahead we all knew that unless we got a quick equaliser it would be difficult. The game followed a pattern we are all used to. It's a very frustrating watch. We didn't manage to get behind them because they sat so deep. I actually though some of our play in the first half was great but as the game wore on we lacked ideas. I'm no expert but I do think the Weekes and Glendon issue shows in games like this. No harm in changing it is there. Taylor is frustrating, talent but a lack of work rate. Not the end of the world but issues with recruitment this season certainly. Burton and Goodson being the big misses. Loan signings poor as well. Depressing but we will get better

All of them were awful, let’s not single too many individuals out.
Think a few people need to give their heads a wobble on here. Saying we won’t make the playoffs now? Really?
We’re 1 point off the play off places and 3 points off 4th with a game in hand……..
I’ll admit losing to Farsley and Buxton at home is worrying but smash up Bishops Stortford and we’ll be fine.
Draw or lose to them though and Cal needs to really start looking at our style of play against the lower teams.

I think we're all deflated with the last 5 or 6 weeks. What happened to the Southport and Curzon performances?
Let's face it we should be controlling the ball as we're effectively playing a 3-6-1 formation.
I don't like playing a passing midfield player as a 2nd striker, which is where Glendon is playing. That's not his game. It reduces our attacking options. Our striker(s) get very little chance to run onto a ball, or find space to turn, must be really frustrating for them.
Murray at least shows an urgency and willingness to run at people and create things, until he gets subbed anyway.
Weeks seems to be the loser in this formation. He seems to be sidelined wide and gets frustrated.
Our sole attacking plan is to get Coates running at them, which he does really well. Problem is, when he gets there we've Peers making a good run near post, and maybe Glendon and Murray running in 3 yards late. They're also the smallest players in the box against 6 defenders.
The controlling the centre of the pitch isn't necessarily effective against a team who operates a low press. It just allows them to get into position.
Pushing Burke up front again for last 10 minutes (opposed to last 2 minutes against Rushall) was at least a change. But did he get a cross into the box to actually head? No everything was too far away from goal to create a 2nd ball opportunity.
As others have said, this seasons recruitment of new players to the club has been abysmal. Only one to actually play has been Taylor, and I think I'd prefer Heywood there.
We've compounded that by poor loans (Sparrow excepted) and then adding strikers that Cal doesn't think are good enough to play. If we're stuck with Norton and Windsor for the season, unless we can move someone out to reduce the wage bill, I'm not sure I'd be signing anyone else. There's a risk that we overspend this season to compensate and the crowds drop off. That then impacts next season too.
As Anders said, Norton actually looked OK at South Shields and Alfreton playing wide. Admittedly he's looks useless in the other games, when played central. Windsor has looked a goalscorer when played central, although he's missed chances he was in there making the right runs. I'd keep him of the two.
There's some difficult decisions for Cal now. His squad is built around a style of play that has consistently not worked against the lesser teams. The goals for column tells you that. We're not actually creating goal scoring opportunities either. Playing 2 strikers might be a start.
