Should’ve had Cam Mason on the bench tonight and brought him on for the penalty.

Pathetic. Cal taking off DMH was as bad as it gets, the most threatening player & was starting to cause them problems, then subs him off, absolute madness.
Worst game I've seen from Kev Roberts in a Chester shirt. Glendon abysmal as was Weeks. Lucky dip for MOTM.
What a load of rubbish!

Reverted back to last season. Boring, plodding, predictable nonsense. Seen that type of game so many times, Calum seems to love it though. To be fair the previous season was the same style but the difference is we had an in-form striker carving out all of his own chances with no service whatsoever and scoring nearly 30 goals. Said it many times before, people look at the playoff/third-place season through rose-tinted specs. The football was much the same, the Brackley playoff game was no surprise performance - was how we had played most of that season. Just Willoughby was in good form that’s all. Telling us you didn't see many games 22/23 without saying it.

Telling us you didn't see many games 22/23 without saying it. Saw every home game and a couple of aways. Just becuase we finished third and made the playoffs it doesn’t mean we played swashbuckling expansive football. That Brackley game wasn’t a case of freezing on the big occasion, the performance was very familiar. That season Willoughby had next to no service, had to always drop deep to basically create all his own chances.

First half is as abject as I've seen since the Jon McCarthy days. Horrible team selection and terrible effort and lack of performance. Weeks had an absolute shocker and we'll never get anywhere with Glendon as captain. The goals have dried up too. Concerning times.

It's just depressing really. Shite football, barely any entertainment, cant score, and a manager who sticks to the one plan he has regardless and seems to think that one day it will work. Most fans can see it.

Never, ever been this bored watching Chester as I have the last 2 seasons.
Feel the life being sucked out the stadium and fans, not just with results but the turgid, awful style of play and the persistence with tonight’s type of midfield.
Always give Cal a lot of time but feel he needs wins and fast. Next 5 games are make of break.

Really hope this isn’t the start of slipping into a rut that a manager can’t come back from, with the fans turning and things becoming more and more toxic. We’ve obviously had that with all previous managers at around the two/three-year mark.
Really need to nip this in the bud - Saturday is massive now.

Deja vu for us all. The fact that he’s been club captain for a number of years now really is shameful. The added bonus of Weeks being totally destroyed next to him just adds to it all. The usual arsewipes will tell us we’ve been like 70s Brazil under Cal and that midfield still works despite irrelevant things like results and performances but there really needs to be a rethink. 3 years in and we still don’t have a player outside of the back 4 who can win a header. Never understood why he was ever made captain there’s zero leadership in him he ain’t vocal whatsoever Great player on his day mind but been massively out of form for us recently and deserves dropping.

I suspect it is the start of the rut, mainly because he appears to have learnt and changed nothing from last season.

The trouble is everyone at board level is far too pally with Cal .. just coz he's from Blacon cuts him far too much slack. I really hope he can turn it round but everyone knows our midfield is too lightweight and not mobile enough.. and the minimum we need as well is a target man up front .. 5 games to keep the season alive !

Maybe we could swop them pair out for another couple?

Rinse and repeat of any home performance for the past 2 years.
Absolutely pathetic first half, we huffed and puffed second half but got what we deserved. Nothing.
Cal needs to buck his ideas up, get us out this rut and stop bottling it against these teams. This is the strongest squad we've had during his tenure and we looked miles off the pace tonight. Down to 9th, its not good enough anymore

The passing in the first half was dreadful, woodthorpe and pollock looked nervous too.
Weeks not shooting at the end was a joke and as for Glendon really wish we let him go to Radcliffe in the summer,
Midfield 3 of Bainbridge, Weeks and Murray going forward please

Brainless tonight.
Buxton went full-time in the summer and do it on the cheap they’ve had to sign a lot of really young players. They went a suicidal early pace and were always going to fall off a cliff in the second half, young players always do as they don’t know how and when to conserve their energy. All we had to do was be patient and keep it simple (Bainbridge and Rawlinson probably would have ensured this) but instead the midfield three were extremely naive, got hassled and gave the ball away a stupid amount of times. As captain Glendon should have been the one to put his foot on the ball, ensure we keep it away from them and suck the life out of them. Instead we concede and give them something to hold on to, which also invites the shithousery from them later on.
It's a horrible defeat that as personally I think Buxton will go down.

Whether people are pally with Cal is immaterial. As soon as you saw tonight’s line up it was obvious the midfield would not work. The midfield of Glendon, Weeks and Murray will never work, not one enforcer in there. Bainbridge was a massive miss tonight and shows the lack of strength in depth. Cal said after last season, “we need more physicality to get out of this league”, two players, Bainbridge and Rawlinson are the only two that fit that description, the rest of the incoming players does not suggest he has fulfilled his physicality needs. We have 3 lightweight forwards all who struggle with a high ball. Is this a budget issue or lack of decent recruitment. Either way as a squad we are not good enough to win this league but let’s hope we can make play offs

Buck stops with Cal. We can't afford another shite mid table season like last season, either results pick up or we part ways end of the season. With this squad we should be right up there pushing for promotion. Third year in and we're just stagnant. No life about us, its boring dreary anti football

Someone mentioned it above, it’s really strange that the likes of Hancox and Turner were signed in the summer after playing every week for better teams than us, yet they can’t get a sniff. Too many of the usual X1 are not performing.

Glendon was determined to pass it to Buxton at every opportunity in the first half. We need a strong and determined central midfielder who is happy to go at a suicidal pace rather than sideways and backwards like our own Iniesta and Xavi do. It’s obvious where the clear weakness in this team lies but our manager is totally oblivious to it.

Either way as a squad we are not good enough to win this league but let’s hope we can make play offs Completely agree on the second paragraph. To say we needed more height and physicality and then re-sign Weeks, Glendon, Murray and then sign Hancox (who is somewhere between all three) is insanity IMO. Cal made a rod for his own back there It's early in the season but lets he honest it's been awful since the Stockton away game. We still don't look physical or athletic enough. The best we've looked was against Radcliffe who were frankly a joke and are rightly bottom of the league. It was a quick turnaround from Saturday but for me that's a reason to freshen it up. As I said earlier, Hunter, Turner and Hancox must be wondering why they were signed if they can't get a proper run out when we've been playing so poorly. Curzon away is a game we usually do well in but I still think these underlying issues are a huge concern
