Had a look on the Halifax site and they seem to think this game is very winnable, although saying that most are predicting a draw. They also have some odd obsession with players height and have listed the exact cm measurement of every tall players height from our squad. Perhaps they fear Astles and McCombe will numb the effects of their target man, Denton.

Just had a read and they seem to think that if "191cm Nyal Bell" is injured then we will have a very thin front line and apparently he is our main striker?! Do they not realise he is our 4th choice striker and we have 3 quality strikers who are better than him...

Who remembers the FA Cup tie a few years back when a handful of their fans decided to take on the Harry Mac? As I say, an odd bunch.

And abused and mocked James Roberts as he went off injured on his return to football after the death of his brother. Going for families in the Harry Mac, very odd bunch.

One of those games tomorrow where neither really fear each other too much and would be disappointed to not come away with three points. I did notice on their forum them pinning a fair bit of emphasis on estimating how big we are, presumably because they expect Denton to start up front again ahead of Morgan. To be honest tomorrow is a game you’d expect to suit our back two of Astles and McCombe more than Tuesday dealing with Fylde’s pace and trickery.
Really liked the look of our strikers on Tuesday, I think they’re capable of causing problems for anyone in this league. A bit misguided if they’re focusing on Bell though, who is fourth choice!

You would think at your age you would be a little better behaved towards people and have a little more respect, please try not to turn every post you make as an opportunity to wind people up. Selective post, and targeting someone only recently joined. Didn't realise it was a closed shop, and what has ageism got to do with things? With greater reading you will notice any negative comments I make are reactionary so why don't you make an issue with those who initiate things. "What has ageism got to do with things" you just referred to me as little boy....

Hoping to see my first win since Welling at home in April 2016. Didn't witness a single victory last season

Expecting more of the ball from the blues tonight and certainly more football being played against a weaker opposition. It's a game where we expect to win, so I hope JM stresses that to his players that we need to be agressive and make the Deva a harder place to Come this season. Sometimes I feel like we look like the away side at home, but without the counter attacking threat that other teams have. This season we have better strikers, but the same problems out wide on paper. An inform Mahon couldn't come soon enough.

My ageism comment was directed at a moderator who I expect should maintain a neutral stance. Sorry if I made an error in my reference to you as a little boy; for all I know you may be a very large and overweight boy. Me, age thing? No, I was worse in my younger days and am now far less belligerent. However, at least the three of us want the same outcome for today's match, regardless of our differing opinions in other respects.

We have to get this monkey off our back at some point, so I'm going for a 3-1, long awaited, home win
Out of interest, SkyBet's odds are:
Chester. 7/4 Draw. 12/5 Halifax. 6/4

Usually a decent game against Halifax, with a bit of an edge. Looks a decent day, so hopefully well over 2,000 today. Long given up predicting home scores!!
Hope to see my good friend Durdy there today . . . get the 50/50s in mate!

If we set up like we did against Fylde we'll have a good afternoon, consistency is key but with a small squad it can be difficult not being able to mix it around, at least we've got choices up front. COYB 2-1

Someone referred to this as must win - sounds a bit drastic after one game but know what he means. Lose or daw and we still haven't won a home game this year. We are now in mid August and by any measure that's shocking. Doubt many managers would survive that. Been a lot of talk about how we've improved since last season but it's time to deliver today. If we have any aspirations to do well this season these are the games we need to be wining at home. That does add to the pressure and just hope they are up to it. Also time for Mahon to start showing a bit more after being given a two year deal - should be the type of game in which he thrives.

My job as a moderator is to make sure that trolling does not spoil the enjoyment of others on this site. I don't take sides, I don't have favourites, I moderate fairly and you seem to have your fair share of reports against you on our Admin page.
As for me being ageist, I didn't make any detrimental remark about your age, given the fact you have said yourself you have been watching the blues for over fifty years, I assumed you were of an age where you would have grown up a bit and making sniping remarks towards a younger member of the forum is obviously not everyone's cup of tea. you were actually reported by a member who wasn't even involved in the discussion, so its not just me.
As a moderating team, we agreed not to take any action or remove any posts as they were childish at best. That's not to say that if we get any more reports we wont reverse our decision.
Enjoy the game today.

I personally believe it is a must win for McCarthy, a defeat today and the fans will be on his back again. He is lucky to still be in a job so must hit the ground running to keep up the slight positivity that had been built up by the decent signings he made.

I think we are in for a game where the ball spends little time on the floor, they must be a totally route one side as you say the are are obsessed with the height or lack of it in our team. We will need to play the ball out from the back so we don't play to their strengths, I don't think it's going to be a classic but hope for a win.

So let me get this straight. You don't think you are ageist but you don't think someone of my age should reply in kind to derogatory remarks made by younger members. Are you really happy and accepting with a younger member who refers to remarks of others as "silly" and "pathetic"? Not exactly how I see a forum for free speech operating. Think about it.

Paying him off if we suffer an embarrassing defeat could see this game as a costly exercise. On another note, what has happened to the original targets when the club was reformed? Get back to the National League within five years - yes, brilliantly achieved. Get back into the Football League within ten years. Is that still a target, or has it been changed to avoiding relegation? What are the specific targets for the next three years?

Look back to the Conference in 2010 when this target was supposedly set - nowhere near as strong as it is now. Look at how many bankrolled teams are in the division now. Much tougher to get out then it was 7 years ago.

Anyone who seriously believes we have a chance of football league anytime soon needs there head testing.

Think Akintunde's pace late on in a game can be a real asset for us, but Ross has the quality and I'm looking forward to seeing his partnership with Harry White develop. Think that is a very good pairing of strikers at this level. And that's despite a good showing from Akintunde on Tuesday night.
