Stunning save right at the end stops Akintunde scoring. Halifax come close straight after. 4 added.

First game this season, full of hope before the game, completely dashed by the end. A shocking performance, lacking passion, imagination or organisation. No width, no pace, and just hoof the ball up in the air. Two very poor sides, both looking at bottom 4 or 5 on this showing.

Couldn't make it today but from what I've heard it doesn't sound like a huge departure from the home games of recent months. Was listening to Jamie Carragher earlier following Liverpool's disastrous defensive display and he was saying even if they sign Van Dijk it won't make any difference as it's down to the style and tactics of the manager. This is similar with us - we've brought in better players but ultimately we're playing the same tactics and some of these players just don't suit it. We've got good footballers, when will he trust them to actually play and create rather than humping it up the pitch and playing on percentages? It might work on the road, but there's a reason why we haven't won a home game this year and Macca seems reluctant to try anything different to rectify it. We now have strikers who can score, but they will need service and you're asking an awful lot of Turnbull and James to expect them to constantly try and win 2nd balls rather than trusting them to get on the ball and play.
On one hand at least we're unbeaten so far, but on the other we've faced two of the promoted teams and surely he'd target 4 points from those games. Who exactly are we expecting to beat at home? How would we ever go about beating anyone at home? There is rarely any sustained pressure from us as the home team, and its boring and tedious to watch. Something has to change at home - how long can this winless run go on for?! Being hard to beat is one thing, but we find it hard to win too. The shackles need loosening a bit, and we need to play a more possession based game at home in my opinion to move the opposition around and make them work, tire them out which will then see gaps open. I just don't see lumping it forwards quickly and relying on winning second balls as a viable home tactic, unless you had a squad of players completely suited to it which we don't.

Couldn't string 3 passes together - 1 shot on target all match - utter garbage
I was listening to a very apt song on the way home - Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb

Bored to tears. That performance will knock around 2-300 off the gate next match. Halifax were a very poor team, but somehow we were just as shite.

Hard to disagree with the posts summing the game up. Pretty dire all round. What excitement we had was in the last few minutes. They looked poor and we couldn't beat them.

I'll get the ball rolling. McCarthy out. Same old rubbish served up - no plan - no composure - no threat - no idea how to change formation or tactic. Im affraid we will see 3/400 off the next home gate just because the standard of football is so poor. Only positive today was the clean sheet, but that was only due to the opposition being so poor. That will be the easiest game we have all season at home, and we fluffed it. We desparately need some fresh ideas and someone who knows how to organise the team further up the pitch. I honestly dont know what we practise all week.

Very poor game that, not much happened apart from Halifax hitting the bar from a cross (fluke) and Akintunde’s effort just before the end.
Don’t know what the plan was really, hoof it towards Halifax’s big defence against the wind? We were only a threat when Akintunde came on and in fairness Chapell also did pretty well in the short amount of time he got. His tactics just baffle me, can’t believe he used to be a winger playing that narrow either.
James was our best player, not sure how someone plucked Rowe-Turner for man of the match.

More of the same, as others have said.
White is just a carthorse, he's slow and seems get in the way of what little goes on up top. We looked much improved with Akintunde and Hannah and I hope Macca starts with them on Tuesday.
Halifax posed no threat second half and really were there for the taking. To create so little in two home games is so disappointing. The passing is as bad as I've seen in recent years and the movement today wasn't there either.
We all know what the underlying problem is.

That's now 16 home games without a win on the bounce.
No wonder the home gates are going down

He doesn't have the capacity to learn and improve, plus he doesn't take responsibility. Couple of losses from some tough upcoming fixtures and he will be getting the same stick as last season and will be out blaming the fans again. People were surprised at the negative reaction the other night. When will they wake up and see the problem? We've got a decent squad but a poor manager. The fact he allegedly works so hard makes it even worse - it makes not a jot of difference to the performances. He should have been sacked last season and unless things improve quickly he needs to be sent packing quickly. Imagine what an experienced manager - a Bignot for example - would get out of this squad.

Much better squad than last season but the same old dire shite. It's well-known that those attending recent CFU owners meetings have been told that "these are the tactics, get used to them" but the problem with that is people can choose to just stop coming. As a supporter-owned club we can't afford for that to happen.
