Loads from Cheshire Police were there Anders. Trying to intimidate people as usual. Straight off the train they were there and in the ground just eyeballing people. A young lad who was pissed out his mind and weighed 4st was pinned down and dealt with way over the top when he could’ve been removed with minimum fuss. Surpised nobody has mentioned the fact Scunthorpe put the price of a pint up to £5 for us when it’s normally £4. Complete disgrace and shouldn’t be able to get away with it, just because we brought a bigger following. All this shite about welcoming us all week then blatantly ripping us off. Wrote it on a pathetic piece of cardboard too. They blanked all the prices at the food stands out with duct tape too.Thieving gets. I know. Cheeky bastards.

One of my mates who is a Scunthorpe fan reckons that when they played at Peterborough Sports they were charged £20 to go in with no concessions while the home fans were charged £ 14 & £ 12 concessions. As the home team keep their own gate money surely this is wrong & the league authorities should not allow this.

Murray was probably MOTM, ran his socks off, was at the heart of most good things we did and got the shit kicked out of him as well. I continue to be impressed with Woodthorpe though, who ran him close IMO. Very calm and composed and has slotted in perfectly. Had to put up with a dozy Taylor in front of him as well.
Oh, and please tell me somebody from Cheshire Police was there to witness how a football match should be policed. Minimal presence despite the crowd and occasion and guess what, bar a few on both sides who got over excited at the end, nothing happened. Both sets of fans easily mingling with a fair bit of respect for each others efforts. Imagine if we got 7,000, they would be all over it like a rash, frothing at the mouth at the prospect of being able to cart somebody away. Loads from Cheshire Police were there Anders. First time in 40 years i haven't known the result on a Saturday at 5. Read the whole post not knowing the outcome. Great read and brilliant result. We were still playing at 5! Think it was after 5:15 it finished. Might have been a few rushing for the train Didn't kick off until 3.16.

I would try and push the boat out to sign Tollitt for next season Exactly the kind of quality you need to get out of this division and stabilise in the league above. If the lad can stay fit he is FL standard Agree with this, if we go up we'd be in a strong position to sign him for sure, if we don't it becomes a bit more challenging. He's such a threat on the ball & is the most exciting & dangerous forward player we have who can make things happen. When he went off yesterday we lacked a bit up front I thought.

It was such a great atmosphere yesterday - felt so proud being a Chester fan. Was a really entertaining game and on reflection I think a point was fair. Murray was MOTM for me - worked so hard and, as someone else said, was rather bullied by some Scunthorpe players.
I don't know what was up with Taylor but he just looked like he couldn't be bothered and played a big part in their goals. Not sure why he wasn't substituted.
Aside from fans on both sides invading the pitch, there was no trouble at all and was great to see.

Nice video. They seem like a decent bunch tbf. They have obviously been through some bad times. Hope they turn it around but not at our expense 😂

Attendance 7511. Highest attendance ever in the NLN including play offs. Including 1142 CFC fans - Best attendance in non-league at the weekend. Also better than most in League 2 and even some in League 1.

That's some away support for a Step 6 team with the away fans (near 260 mile round journey) out-singing the home fans for 90 minutes.

Thought it was a cracking day out tbh. Great atmosphere by our fans too. As for the game I thought the ref did well no real complaints for him.
As much as I like Thomas my heart sank a little as Tollitt came off where as I feel Taylor should have been dragged. When Scunny went down to 10 as well you could sense we would be under the cosh and we were. 2-1 up playing against 10 men we should on paper be winning. However at the start of the game if offered a draw, we'd have taken it. As for fans who end up getting locked up at a football game, you have to a good long look at yourself really.
Murray, Burke, Tollett and Williams were stand outs again, Glendon and Roberts had a blinder too

Saturday was everything we could have with promotion to the NL with some of the teams up there.
Oldham, Rochdale, Southend, Alty and then some decent trips to London - Barnet for one would be a great trip.
But I know there’s a few here who don’t see the point in promotion as we’d get battered every week.

Fantastic atmosphere on Saturday. A proper game of football and something we sadly lack most weeks when we are traipsing around the Farsley's and Banbury's of this world.
Felt a point was probably a fair result on the balance of play. We certainly deserved something from it and it was disappointing not to take all three having gone in front twice and then seen them reduced to 10 men. However, they should probably have had a penalty at the end and we were very fortunate with that ball coming off the bar in injury time.
I thought Joel Taylor's performance was one of the worst I have seen in recent memory. Unfortunately, his performances have gotten consistently worse all season and he was exposed on Saturday against a much better team who targeted him. Time and again he gave the ball away, dangled a leg out, or just allowed his man to pass with little effort to stop him. His distribution is awful and his effort is non-existent. How Callum is starting him is a mystery. He shouldn't even be on the bench. I'm hoping the player Callum is targeting to bring in will rectify this. I was also, again, disappointed with Charlie Caton. Runs around a lot but offers nothing in terms of threat. Without Tollitt up front on Saturday we would have had very little attacking threat. Shame he was pulled before the end but I assume we are managing his injury.
Can see us being back at Scunthorpe for a play off game at some point. Nothing to fear if we can learn from Saturday.

Terrible highlights, no idea what's going on with the sound.
Some of the fans running on the pitch for both sides look embarrassingly old, especially that gimp giving it to Stanway.

Looking at some Scunthorpe fans is a reminder that we're not the only club that has them! I get a bit fed up of people constantly moaning about this level. Enjoying watching us play in the NLN or whatever level we are at shouldn't be mistaken for not wanting us to see us progress. I also think we tend to over-romanticise the NL and compare its most glamorous factors to the NLNs least glamorous. You could compare Scunthorpe, Hereford and Scarborough to Boreham Wood, Dorking and Fylde and the picture looks very different. But yes, I do feel like we're ready to give the NL another crack and will hopefully be better prepared for it this time. There's no reason why we can't compete at that level, but if and when we do, I'd take 20th place first season back in a heartbeat.

And we’d have had a season of better teams to play against.

Have been reflecting on Saturday. I can’t help thinking we might end up repeating that all over again in the play offs - I hope so as that was one hell of a day out - in fact I’d say it was more enjoyable than the Oldham game earlier this season and poss the Barnsley cup match. Shame they all ended in draws…if it does repeat in the playoffs I think we’ve got what it takes to beat them.
