I would give Matty Waters the benefit of the doubt though. Waters had a bit mare today, but so did many others, and the lad hasn't really been given many minutes in all honesty, at least when he lost the ball, or failed to win it, he at least looked bothered and tried his best. Watched him quite a bit in the youth team, and still think he has bags of potential, just don't think he is suited to defensive mid, as lacks the physicality at this level , playing further forward, he can be a threat and has a good eye for goal, as can be seen from the amount of goals he scored from defence for the youth team. Yeah, however bad Waters might've been I think some need to cut him some slack. Only a young lad, and he doesn't exactly have too many to look up to in this squad. I remember Heneghan had some very poor games when he first arrived so let's be patient with him. I would normally defend our youth products to the hilt but his performance was as poor if not poorer than the rest of them. There's no excuse what so ever to hide regardless of age and experience. I will agree he hardly has any great role models within the side. Turnbull should be publicly flogged for that pitiful effort yesterday as should captain marvel who were arguably our two most experienced players on the pitch.

Yes he had a bad game. But Halls, Rowe-Turner, Captain Marvel, White, Turnbull, James, Chapple, Hannah have been doing so week in week out, and dont seem to give a monkeys cuss. Hell, our main midfield player would rather coach...
At least young Matty will be feeling the pain. Those above will just smile as their money goes in...

I am still angry with the players, they need punishing for that performance, sticks in the craw that they will be picking up a wage from the fans for that shite.

When the cottage pie at a match is the highlight of the trip, it says it all.... And the man said he sold out of 400 pies by quarter to three. I had to make do with a horribly overcooked burger at half time, and there was me looking forwards to the best food in football and the magic of the FA Cup. What a bloody let down.

Depend on whether or not the 3 days part is actually written into the contract. That's why I said 'contracted' But do we know that they are 'contracted' to train 3 times a week? If they are not 'contracted' to do so, then Constructive Dismissal may not be rearing its ugly head.

Saturday was absolutely woeful, possibly the worst I have ever seen and I'm in no doubt that some of those players are not putting in the effort required. But to suggest it's totally down to a lack of effort is naive IMO. That performance was the outcome of so many limitations with this squad. We have 3 wide players, Mahon is injured for 75% of any given season, Waters is out of his depth in this league and Chapell is useless. That means our best striker is played on the wing and is unsurprisingly poor out of position. We have 5 central midfielders in an 18 man squad, so we are forced to play narrow football and put Kingsley James out wide, who again unsurprisingly doesn't perform. We also only have 4 senior defenders, so they pick themselves regardless of how they perform. - We desperately need to balance the squad out, bring in wide players and defenders, god knows why another striker has been signed. If players have to be moved on to do it then fine, although I can't see anyone willingly going and I don't know how it works at our level with releasing players/moving them to other clubs?

No idea why I'm watching or sharing this: I'm always grateful for people posting video links but, sorry Lobster, for the first time I just can't bear to watch. Delicious irony to the term "extended highlights"

Delicious irony to the term "extended highlights" Having watched that its even more annoying. The two headed chances that we missed were actually really good opportunities. Should have scored them both.

Dodge I agree with the content of your post. However he’s brought in another striker it seems as he says Hannah not fit, white just returning and the other two haven’t set the world alight as of yet. We are woefully short of goals. I agree we need to readdress the balance within the squad. Let’s hope that happens. We could do with a wide player, cover at centre half and being able to play midfielders in their natural positions. We on the basis of Saturday are in need of ball winners and players to break up the play. Then there is creativity etc I could go on.

Apart from the two goals, that seemed to be not too bad a 5 minutes for us to be fair!

You really had to be there to see it! Unfortunately, I was! One of the worst performances from a "professional" team that I can recall! When our fans, me included, enthusiastically applaud their No.10 as MoM, then you know you've been outplayed by a far better team (he was terrific but to a great extent we made it easy for him) If MB was under any illusions as to the shortcomings of this sorry rabble, then he isn't now. I think from his interview that his patience has snapped, he's given them their chance, the whip is about to be cracked big style. I HOPE IT IS! The booing, chants of disgust and open criticism of certain players is absolutely and totally justified and this comes from a guy who always tries to give people the benefit of the doubt. To a club like ours, the FA Cup represents (represented) a real chance to generate revenue and enhance the reputation of the club. To capitulate in such a feeble way is bound to incur the wrath of the fans who let's face it spend good money and potential sore throats to support the team all over the country. No doubt, in the next few days we'll get the usual feeble excuses from the players e.g " the players are gutted", "we feel for the fans", "we're working hard to put things right" etc etc etc. Sorry, but this is wearing very thin. However it's come about, and everyone has an opinion, there's no getting away from the fact that this is a very poor team that needs immediate and severe surgery to arrest what looks like inevitable relegation something I've, and many others, have been predicting for some time. Of course, this is not going to be straightforward, but, in the same way we slept-walked into the JM situation, we could do the same now unless we get our act together as a club. Some very hard and major decisions are going to be have to be made in the very near future to rid ourselves of the canker of the JM era and give a proper manager i.e MB a realistic opportunity to get this club onto a proper footballing footing. It's now mid-October, there's no FA Cup to look forward to. The FA Trophy is still an opportunity but after today I wouldn't hold my breath. That leaves a relegation battle until April - Yippee - what this will do to attendances etc is mind-boggling Let's cut the crap, this club is hurtling into a real crisis unless action is taken. And there it is! www.chesterchronicle.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chester-fc-players-100-care-13778045I suppose in defence they have to say something, but sorry guys, the only way you'll win back the goodwill of the supporters is by performances on the pitch Try starting on Saturday! We genuinely want you guys to succeed!

My first away game of the season. I have stayed silent until now because I was so pissed off.
I left when the added time board went up and a Kiddie steward spoke to me on the way out and said we were the worst team he had seen all season. Totally embarrassing from a team in a higher division.
James isn't a winger but ffs Halls and Chappell must be the worst wing combination to ever grace a football pitch.
I refrained from singing 'what a load of rubbish' and 'you're not fit to wear the shirt' but bloody hell those who did sing were right. what a shambles.
whole team was terrible, can't name one even half decent performance even the Derby lad upfront got a bit of praise but he didn't contribute anything, I suppose nothing is better than what White did, bloody hell did he win a header all game?
best thing about the trip was the cottage pie but event that wasn't as good as it's 'legendary' status.

I read the Chronicle article too.
I don't doubt for a single second that the players want to win, but there are different levels of 'wanting to win'.
I want to see the players absolutely busting a gut as though their lives depend on it - leaving the field with nothing left to give. They should look at themselves in the mirror after the game and know that they literally could not have given more to the cause.
You couldn't say that after Kidderminster. They wanted it more.
That's gone now and they need to prove themselves in the Boreham Wood game.
I don't know if players read DevaChat, but that's all I want - do the supporters proud - if we lose and they've given everything, then so be it.

It was an interesting choice of interviewee wasn't it? A lad who goes back to his parent club in a couple of months.

I don’t buy into this Bignot talk its all about him I think. Last week when the fans were cheering all he mentioned was they never stopped singing my name. This week after all the boos and jeering he says the fans had a right to boo the players,Does he think for one minute that none of that was directed at him, because it was from me.My reason is he picked the team he gives them the tactics,we played a side from a lower league did we attack them no .waters and James never attacked always sat deep, and who would have told them to do that, that would be you mr Bignot First of all great result, some very good performances last night and long may it continue.Mr bignut you’ve done it again,Borehamwood game all players fault last night after a great result all about him again jumping into crowd running down touchline, trying to get the limelight on him. Then to cap it off in his interview “we’ve got them out of bottom 4””not that they’ve rolled their sleeves up and got themselves out of the bottom 4.I really don’t know which is biggest his head or his ego.
