File under W for âWhoops!â
Well done Durdy, and the club for their swift action. Lessons hopefully learned.

All hail Durdy the saviour of the universe đ Top Man, thank you Sir! Where's the bowdown Emoji on this thing?! As for the Club statement... I don't think they can say fairer than that. Swift action, professional, onwards and upwards!

All hail Durdy the saviour of the universe đ Well done Durdy. Get yourself co-opted onto the board. You could do the HR portfolio.

All hail Durdy the saviour of the universe đ Fantastic work Durdy! The board are looking to co-opt directors at the moment.... "As part of the recruitment process significant checks and due diligence were completed" Why would they put this in the statement?! You didn't even bother to Google his name, behave yourselves.

Thank god we have fans who are prepared to dig a bit to come up with information like this .I think as a club we should not be taking people at face value.i was always told if there is cash involved there will be an opportunity.leading to a fiddle

Thankfully itâs sorted but can anyone honestly say this would happen at any other football club in the country ? The board need to seriously raise their game for all future appointments

Well done Durdy for highlighting âissuesâ. And to the club for acting swiftly to resolve the matter. Lessons to be learnt that sadly no one can be taken merely at face value and further due diligence beyond what the normal security checks process shows will need to be done in future. Onwards and upwards.

The next CFU Meeting should be interesting, who ever is doing these interviews and "due diligence" needs stopping immediately - I know there's a retro theme coming up but hiring crooks is taking the P!ss

Respect to DCI Durdyđđ» & I hope the muppets who did the background checks are seriously reprimanded for this mammoth cock up.

I probably shouldnât be, but Iâm finding it hard not to laugh at all this.
To be kind to the club, he has a very normal name, but even a Google search for - âStephen Jonesâ north wales - brings up those two news stories as the first results.

You just couldnât make it up could you. I wonât criticise the board though. Theyâve said theyâre undermanned and overstretched and whilst it was a seemingly easy google check it sounds like the guys on the board are seriously snowed under at the moment.

What is it with this club and totally unsuitable staff appointments? Even without the dodgy past Christ knows how he even got past the interview stage, he is hardly inspiring when setting out his view of the role - Usual negative bollocks on Deva Chat - heâs been in the post what, 12 hours and already been told he uninspiring! At the CFU the board said he has three month probation so letâs see what he can do in that time then pass comment. Thatâs if he doesnât read Deva Chat and run away quickly, who on earth in their right mind would do anything for this club... Hows the old blame-the-fans going for you there? What a horror show.

Un-Believable! Clearly nothing has changed at the club, we've just forgotten that fact because we're winning a few football matches in a piss poor league. A Google search - how hard is it!

This from his Chronicle interview:
Many years ago I was area manager for a food company, so Iâve had quite a diverse background. But over the last couple of years, Iâve moved around considerably, worked at different hotels," he added.
Did make me wonder,"moving around considerably" in a short period of time but absolute, full credit to Durdy for flagging it up.
Looks like we really dodged a bullet there.

Bit of a mess but kudos to the board for nipping this in the bud quickly once it all came to light. Clearly this is a tell-tale sign of just how stretched the board is - the plea for help went out last week and it desperately needs to be answered.

What a soap opera we are! Thank goodness this has been sorted quickly before any real damage other than further tarnishing our less than shiny professional management image. Dwindling board members and no one skilled enough, with a thick skin and the appetite to step up from within the membership to support the few who remain is likely to ultimately result in our demise.

I too find it unbelievable that more checks were not made. As the post holder would be involved at times with youth teams and perhaps vulnerable adults he should have been required to be cleared under the Disclosure and Barring Service (the successor to the CRB check). This is a fundamental requirement and would have immediately flagged up any criminal past. Can we receive an assurance that any further appointments are cleared through the DBS system? We must learn from all these mistakes on HR matters. Well done Durdy!

Bit concerning listening to Andrew Morris on the True Blue Podcast with Dave Powell essentially saying that the club were aware of the articles during due diligence but it wasn't clear that it was the same person because it's a common name in the area.
Then a few minutes later says that "once the articles came to light" Stephen was brought in and removed from his position. Even without going on to contradict his earlier point, if it was true that the club were aware of the articles during due diligence but weren't sure it was the same guy - surely you would ask the bloke?!
The club should just hold their hands up here, they've made a monumental cock-up and a post on the much maligned Deva Chat has saved the day. It's a bit embarrassing to have a director trying to sugarcoat this on the radio.

Thankfully itâs sorted but can anyone honestly say this would happen at any other football club in the country ? It depends on what you mean by that. What has happened is the power of fan ownership as WE have brought this to a head and prompted the club to act. How many other clubs could that happen to?

Donât know much about the law, but perhaps as his previous activities were dealt with by the Financial Services Authority they wouldnât be flagged up as a criminal activity by DBS. However this does not excuse the shortcomings in the due diligence carried out by the club.

DBS will show all criminal convictions. He was sentenced to 2 years at her majesty's pleasure so it would be on a DBS check. No idea how he could hide that. As for spent convictions i have minor convictions from 1991 and they are on my DBS and will always be on there.

I sincerely hope he hasn't been paid a severance package. Possibly three months' worth as that was his initial "trial period" in the role. The club can't do much about that as they had appointed him already and there's employment laws.
