Was Barnes better? Was Gutterman better? Was Smith better? Was Vaughan better? “Anything”... Have we been any better than Smith or Gutterman? We nearly killed the club ourselves a couple of years ago.. Yes, we have. The owners and fans dug deep because we knew it wasn't lining the pockets of a failed businessman or gangster. We voted out board members and voted in new ones (and the current board is in excellent form) something we could never do before. We changed direction and all because we made the decisions. So yes, control matters. But so does a historical memory and a responsibility to safeguard what has been achieved for the next generation. Anyway, best of luck to the Goats, enjoy the ride, but don't let some flash paintwork and Hollywood wax finish prevent you from lifting the bonnet to see the real state of the engine doing the pulling.

In all honesty, I'm glad we don't have to make this decision. On one hand, you've got two famous multimillionaires looking to plough millions into a club in the doldrums. On the other, you're taking the club out of the safest and most satisfying hands it will ever be in, giving it to two people who it's unlikely had even heard of the town of Wrexham until a couple of months ago, and reverting back to private ownership - a model with a history of failure for them, and even more so for us. I would feel like whether I voted yes or no, I was being foolish. My god you're such a wet lettuce on here. Quite frankly if it was us I'd vote yes, i'd hope the majority of our membership would too. Anything has to be better than constantly treading water skint in the conference north forever and a day. What part of what I said wasn't true? Actually, you've ridiculed your own argument two posts down by suggesting we're no better than Smith and Gutterman. Shame, I had you down as better than that.

Looking forward to seeing Ryan Reynolds in his leggings warming up debutant Neville Southall. Maybe he’ll be found on the roof of Sutton United’s ground in his Deadpool outfit scouting the opposition.
Wonder who his three captains will be?
Also can’t wait to see the reformation of “Perfect 10” for the half-time entertainment.
The American circus came to Chester 20 years ago, this time the Canadian circus comes to Wrexham.

Im naturally jealous of their new owners but be Interesting how staffing issues will be sorted, personally if I was a volunteer I'd certainly think twice now the club is owned by millionaires to give my time up for free. A ex liverpool CEO wont be cheap if he takes charge, granted they may make money from a documentary but all costs of the club will go up because people will see pound signs. It's not a money making business a football club, majority of teams in the premiership have losses so alot depends on this netflix documentary and promotion with to go with it

People need to realise without investment we won’t move ahy further then what we are
That’s the reality never going to expand the fanbase if we’re struggling at this level. Hardly going to appeal to the younger generation at all
In an ideal world I’d love to go 51/49

Indeed, there was a spate of virtually enforced resignations within days of the crisis meeting, and others stepped up to replace them. Can you imagine us demanding at a meeting for Smith/Brooks or Vaughan/Liversage to resign? Would have either been met with a 10-page diatribe in the match programme or a microphone to the head...

I'd wager a bet he wouldn't have put those views in his manifesto. I wonder why....

Some of the crying on here is embarrassing and comes across as horribly bitter. Some people seem to hate Wrexham more than they like their own club with the insults they throw around. I've got mates who are Wrexham fans and we have a good laugh about the rivalry, I'd never wish that their club went out of business or call them six-fingered mings. We all backed each other when both clubs have been in financial trouble.
The fact of the matter is they've got a decent sized ground in a decent, town centre position that could be a real asset if improved. Their historically larger fan base, that's dwindled after an extended stay in non-league, could easily return if they go up a step or two and could then sustain them at that level with only a smallish initial investment.
It all looks like it's going through so lets see what happens. On a purely personal level I'm happy that my mates have something to be cheery about, they've suffered some shite and stuck by their club.

An eye for an eye leaves the whole World blind. Some of the anger against Wrexham is strange on here. As someone who has a number of mates who follow Wrexham, we have friendly enough jibes but really, they’re a far bigger club than us in regards to potential and I’m okay with that. I just don’t get your anger. Sounds like you’re living over the border in a goat stronghold - Acrefair? You had friends you’ve lost mocked by them on flags? Doing hanging motions in the ground? They loved it when we went under too. If you’re up their arse that’s your choice, don’t judge others for hating them, I despise everything about them and would love it all to go tits up one day. Scum of the earth fans and scum of the earth club.

I hate anyone involved in mocking the dead, whoever they support. And yes, while all clubs have knobheads, I would say their knobheads are particularly bad.
To just decide you hate someone because of who they support seems a bit much though. If you live anywhere around here, you're bound to meet a Wrexham fan every now and again. Would you instantly decide you hated them? Life's too short for that.

That’s a small minority there who’ve disgraced themselves, as with any club or society. Let us pray we get them in an FA cup at their place and at least make the most of a bumper gate receipts split !

If you live and work in Flintshire then it’s quite common to have Chester and Wrexham fans mixing together, with most communities not exclusively attached to one club or the other. In my experience the Wrexham fans I’ve known personally have been friendly and not one has ever told me that we let our club die etc. If anything, the common ground of supporting clubs low down the ladder rather than taking the easy option of following a Premier League club from your armchair can make it easier to get to know each other. Whether the relationship will change if (and it’s still a big if) we end up literally leagues apart in the years to come remains to be seen.
Do I like them as a club though? Not a chance.

The poster above (Mancot) also knows exactly WHY I withdrew as well which is pretty shitty behaviour on his part (nothing new there). I was also part of the commercial working group for a short time, before again personal circumstances meant i can not afford to commit time to the role.

In addition, i worry that we are going to lose out in a big way with the local kids, not just in Chester but in the local areas including Deeside.
'Deadpool' buying them will be seen as a massive draw. Pre lockdown it seems we struggled anyway to consistently get younger supporters in, well you can bet your bottom dollar it'll be even harder now. This isnt just someone with money taking over our rivals.
This is a pair of individuals one being a global megastar. How the hell do we compete with that?

Mind you, I can hardly be described as a younger supporter, so perhaps it’s just me.
