Worked hard every day of my life since I was 16 - paying tax. Now retired - still paying tax. Want to leave the fruits of my labours (and by God they were labours at times) to my kids. Let's hope I don't get sick and need care. Are they getting my vote - no bloody way.

What is all this idiotic slander suggesting that Corbyn is destroying the Labour Party? He has just given us the most inspiring manifesto since at least Harold Wilson in 1964. He has taken Labour back to its social democratic roots , and has enthused thousands of people to join the party resulting in a massive rise in party membership, giving it a membership greater than all other parties in the UK combined.
There are two key reasons that Labour began this campaign 20 points behind in the polls, the backstabbing Tory lite Blairites splitting the party, knowing divided parties struggle for credibility , and the fact the New Labour under Blair and Brown lost Scotland probably for a generation. A recent poll put Labour on 39% in England but only 19% in Scotland. The polls have been narrowing since the manifesto’s were published, and will continue to do so , though the Tories are still going to get a majority, thanks to the economic Liberals/Third Way traitors that have just one agenda, for Britain to follow the USA and have two right wing parties competing for power.
How can anybody who voted for Labour when it was led by that Tory lite war criminal Blair then state that they won’t vote Labour because they are led by a thoroughly principled and decent human being Jeremy Corbyn?!? He is not a natural leader, but he is head and shoulders above slogan repeating, autocue needing, gutless dullard May. We are voting for a manifesto, an agenda for government, not an X-factor contestant.

Probably the first off-topic post you've made without managing to call somebody an anti-semite. Pat on the back for you. Corbyn was cleared of anti-semitism in what could be termed a whitewash conducted by Shami Chakrabarti, who later received a peerage. Anti-Semitism in it's modern context can be defined as "depicting the Jewish state as a criminal entity that has no right to exist" Wistrich (2017). I've recently returned from a 10 day educational and spiritual visit from Israel with a large group of like-minded folk. I'm currently reading a book called Will The Nazi Eagle Rise Again by David Friedman, who I had the privilege to meet in my hotel in Jerusalem. He's a Jew and academic who moved to Israel from the USA where his father was fortunate to escape to in the 1930s. The foreword to the book was written by L. Mayekiso, a black South African, who grew up under apartheid. He has visited Israel many times and considers the allegation that Israel is an apartheid state to be a joke. Corbyn has shared a platform with the leader of a terrorist organisation. Why won't he share a platform with anybody from the Jewish community. The hotel I stayed in was staffed by Jews and Arabs alike and it was a very positive experience. By boycotting Israeli goods the the first ones to suffer will be Arabs losing their jobs. It was also suggested that anti-semitism arises from ignorance which is not helped by one-sided reporting from the likes of BBC, CNN, Al Jazira and others. Anti Semitism is at it's highest since the end of WW2. There isn't a high tech company in the world that doesn't have a research centre in Israel. Most of the technology in your mobile phone was developed in Israel. Finally we visited a kibbutz near Gaza City, the most populous place on earth. The leaders live millionaire life-styles, whilst the the population live in abject poverty. They launch rockets from mosques, schools and hospitals. The Israeli's don't retaliate any more, they have developed the most sophisticated systems for warning of attacks. Despite this the kibbutz people live constant fear, despite their indomitable resolve. Still why would you be bothered.

I wonder why you felt the need to use an article from an obscure American publication called the Jewish Voice to define anti-semitism? How can you expect anybody to take your arguments seriously when you deem it okay to pluck "definitions" from blatantly biased and unsubstantiated websites? Quite how you think you can distort the English language in such a way is astonishing. For your clarity, the dictionary definition of anti-semitism is as follows: "discrimination against or prejudice or hostility toward Jews" - I presume you chose against using the correct definition because it doesn't allow you to conflate Judaism, anti-Zionism and anti-Israeli sentiments as one and the same? Opposition to the state of Israel and/or the boycotting of Israeli goods is absolutely not anti-semitic. Also, your use of the word "they" in reference to the Palestinians and your subsequent inference that they all launch rockets from mosques, schools and hospitals is utterly shameful.

For anyone in or around the Wirral who might be interested, Corbyn is making an appearance at West Kirby Beach tomorrow Must've been a couple of thousand out for this. Great atmosphere and a rousing speech considering he's a man who apparently has no charisma. The highlight was perhaps going to Wetherspoons afterwards and hearing a pub-full of people booing Theresa May as she appeared on the news! I'm hopeful that at least locally we'll be able to keep Wirral and Chester Tory-free.

I'm still aprehensive over Wirral West but my faith in Margaret Greenwoods stellar 2 years in parliament gives me optimism. I just vote the Green Party don't take a decisive share of the vote to hand it back to the tories. Personally I'm Neston and Ellesmere Port and will of course be voting for Justin Madders.

Two interesting polls just published
From Britain Elects @britainelects
Westminster voting intention: CON: 44% (-1) LAB: 35% (+3) LDEM: 9% (+1) UKIP: 3% (-3) (via @yougov / 18 - 19 May) Chgs. w/ 17 May)
CON: 46% (-2) LAB: 34% (+4) LDEM: 8% (-) UKIP: 3% (-1) (via @survation / 19 - 20 May)
I can feel my gloom lifting a little. Just read about Corbyn getting a fantastic reception tonight at Prenton Park at the Libertines concert, not a political crowd but apparently all cheering for him. The Tory lead has halved in a week following the publication of the manifesto’s. Seems that when people start to think about their own finances, and chances/implications of getting sick in old age, it concentrates the mind, and Brexit, nationalism and the EU start to fade in importance. A hung parliament is not impossible.
I am hopeful that locally across Wirral, Ellesmere Port and Chester that the Tories will lose every seat. In Chester Chris Matheson is a popular MP who will have gained a personal vote to add to his 93 majority. The Greens are asking their voters to back him, with fracking being a huge issue in Upton. The Lib Dems are fielding only a token candidate, and it sounds like their vote in areas they can’t win is fast evaporating, so it would not suprise me if they lost their deposit. So even if we allow a generous a 3-1 split to the Tories of the Ukip vote, I think Labour might well win with a slightly larger majority.
Of course it could all go pear shaped were any senior figure in the Labour campaign to drop the ball and do/say something stupid. Fingers crossed, for many reasons I think this election is more important than any in my life time.

RE-ELECT CHRIS MATHESON. The anachronism will be gone in 5 weeks then we start rebuilding. I believe Chris is a potential leader of the Labour Party Matheson might find it difficult to lead the party given he won't be an MP in 5 weeks time On what basis do you base that statement on. I know Tories who will be voting for him because he's genuine . Something that no Tory can claim.

I have a problem with the whole 'manifesto' because i don't believe Labour will deliver ANY of it. But you continue to be hooked into believing the nonsense that comes from your favourite party, afterall the country was in a really good position last time labour were in power wasn't it! P.S. I am alright actually, that's because i play the game called life a little better than some, i don't see what any political party can do to make lazy people more money for the same effort... THAT is damaging to the economy trust me. As opposed to the Tories? What exactly have they delivered over the last 7 years? Immigration below 100,000 a year - FAILED Austerity measures aimed at bringing substantial growth to the economy - FAILED Removal of the deficit - FAILED A reduction in national debt - FAILED What exactly have they succeeded at delivering? Apart from crippling public services, introducing heinous unsupported policies like the bedroom tax and giving the top 0.1% a massive tax cut? And what are they offering so far for 2017 - "girls and boys" jobs and the return of fox hunting and selective grammar schools. What a time to be alive. This is a good summary of Tory failure. May I add the erosion of job security that has been fought for for over a century and is being dumped piecemeal. 7 million people are not registered to vote at this election and they're too stupid to realise that they are making the Tories re-election chances so easy. I guess they are mostly people that would vote for Labour.

I was at the Libertines gig at Preston Park last night and it's safe to say Jeremy Corbyn was incredibly popular with the attendees. He gave a brilliant speech about the importance of sport and music and even referenced the top 6 football clubs in England and how the funding should be distributed down towards lower league.
The polls are turning, it is not a done deal. I've got a horrible feeling this country will only realise what an opportunity we've missed when it's too late. Get the Tory filth out! Viva la Corbyn!

However, that was with Scotland at the time being solidly Labour. If Scotland still was solidly Labour (and it was lost by the Blairites effectively) then in fact Corbyn would be on a far higher level of support now than when Labour last won a general election. That being the case the constant attacks on him appear to be even more wide of the mark.

It has been very interesting reading this forum. Corbyn is clearly popular amongst the socialist leaning voters, but nowhere near enough the middle ground to win the majority vote and be elected. May will win because she is seen by many as strong ahead of the upcoming Brexit negotiations. Lib Dems still unsupported following their time in government and having lost so many of their voters to the u-turn in university fees.
Fior me I am still very angry with the Brexit referendum, done for internal Tory politicking with a disasterous referendum question. We don't want to stay but have no idea where we want to go.
I can only vote Lib Dem because of this. A futile vote now that I live in Rushcliffe, Nottingham in terms of backing a winner, but still the vote for me because they offer a vote on the outcome of the negotiations.
I cannot vote for Corbyn. He frightens me to be honest. He has more interest in the plight of the Palestinians than in the UK or the UK working man.
I think May is the best politician in the Tory party, but she's only up against idiots such as Johnson. A strong leader in a 'war' I don't want.
God helps us as a country once we leave the EU and the other countries turn their backs on us. This is going to be a very nasty divorce.

Corbyn lacks decisiveness and has a very narrow viewpoint. He is quick to buy votes (He's not the only politician in his regard) with giveaways we will struggle to afford. He was in decisive over Brexit, torn between the left wing elite ideals (which are his roots) and the needs of the working man expressed and harnessed through UKIP and the Brexit vote. He had the chance to come out strongly against Brexit as it will damage the country and the opportunities for the poorer in our society because he was anxious about many labour areas being anti-Europe after being told for years that their lot in life is all due to the EU politicians.
He is too left wing for me, and too weak as a leader.
I long for a labour leader who has the common touch, but he's now Mayor of Manchester.

Hahaha "May is seen as strong" The only person who see's her as 'strong' is herself. She is quite clearly neither. More interest with Palestine than 'the working man?' Complete nonsense. Trade unions will have a better hand under Labour to better represent workers rights and get a better deal for us. On minimum wage? That'll go up to £10p/h by 2020. More money in your pocket. Can't afford it? Everything has been costed on their manifesto. Nationalising the railways will cost little to nothing by the way as the government can just wait for the lease to expire then bring it back into public ownership at no cost. Raising of corporation tax back to 28% and the rise in income tax to 45p at £80,000 and 50p at £125,000 will raise the money they need to fund the education and health services. Get your head out of those newspapers and start thinking for yourself mate

The common touch I am referring to is one that is appreciated by the whole of the electorate not just the labour membership. I think we'll find that this is also Corbyn's Achilles heal.
