It's been 4 months since a home win, the manager is laughing at us on a lucrative deal and the CFU board and their paid CEO are sitting on their arses is it time for the above???

They don't represent me, they represent themselves. Swanning around in their suits, looking important but igoring the feelings of the fanbase. They should be ashamed of themselves allowing this situation to develop.

I think this thread should have been titled 'Should CFU members call for an EGM' as per poll , rather than 'A vote of no confidence in the current CFU board'

They appear to be in a classic catch 22, albeit mainly of their own making. How about a vote of no confidence in Mark Maguire who as CEO presumably provided them with his professional advice on the length and content of Mr McCarthys contract extension ?

I reckon we wait until the end of next week to see if anything happens. Maybe they were waiting for the season to be over, then take stock.
If Simon Ollerenshaw was still there I believe there would be swift action. Not sure we've a football board to take those decisions now.
If we do call for an EGM what we would need to know are the payoff clauses in JMs contract. You would have thought it would be nowhere near a full 2 years.
If JM stays, we need to ensure he gets an Assistant that knows this league and the North version well. CI won't have that given where he's been playing.
Question. What happens to the contracts we've offered players? Can we retract them if we change manager? If not we need to put a short deadline there, after not signed it is withdrawn.

I agree and EGM should be called before JM is allowed to retain any players or spend next seasons budget.

I think at the very least the board need to acknowledge that our current form isn't acceptable going into next season and that they expect more. Losing 17 out of 23 games should send alarm bells ringing despite safety and the seasons targets being achieved.
If no one at the club shows any concern, an EGM is definitely required. If we're relegated due to their inability to see foresee the obvious for next season, our return to this level will be a long time coming. They need to act now.

Don't understand why everyone is so anti-Maguire. It's even been proven that he's done a lot for the club from the recent CFU meeting.
I suppose the fans of our club have always had someone to moan at, whether that is Smith, Vaughan etc, looks like Maguire is that person....

The fans love Maguire at Hull city and Stockport County for what he did for their respective clubs. He was that good that he was sacked from both clubs. To go from CEO at a Premiership Club in a matter of a few years to Chester FC is hell of an achievement. Is there any tangible Sponsorship/ Investement yet or is it still ongoing?

Pathetic post this , we are struggling to get quality volunteers into the club so if you feel you are better get involved instead of slagging off the people who actually care about the club

Do they care about the club or do they care about their own self interests? From where I'm sat, if they cared about the club then they would be sympathising with the fans and doing something about this situation. Maguire, just like McCarthy, is all talk. Self generated PR and figures. How is he planning on shifting record numbers of season tickets, as promised? How is he planning on attracting major sponsorship when even the dire hard fans have had enough. He just tells gullible people what they want to hear, then breaks open the cigars. Have we not learned from the Vaughan days? What other clubs tell you about an employee is generally correct. Two clubs saw through his lies and incompetence, why would it be any different here?

The board have to act now to ensure that all contract offers are withdrawn and either an agreement with JM to terminate his contract or as suggested elsewhere to demote him back to assistant manager/coach. JM cannot be allowed to spend next seasons budget. For such a huge turn around in fortunes since December I can only assume that he has completely lost the dressing room. The players were completely lost out there this afternoon against a side who were just as poor as us but at least had a shape and a gameplan. One shot on target at home against them is completely unacceptable.
If the board are not prepared to act then then a vote of no confidence is the only way forward. Either way, an EGM must be called.

Mark Maguire as CEO is paid, to give impartial, rational and professional advice to the Board given his experience of running football clubs. As a CFU member, I would like to know what professional advice he gave to the board in respect of the length and content of Mr McCarthy's contract extension. Although this move was welcomed by fans at the time, in hindsight it now seems a risky decision given budgetary pressures (i.e. could we afford to pay him off ), which has now put the Club in significant difficulty. I am not expecting an answer !

If nothing happens next week then we are doomed. McCarthy will sign this lot on again for next season, we'll start the season as we ended this, we'll get rid of him too late and any new gaffer will be stuck with this lot as well. It's a desperate situation and it's a good job we never really needed a result today, as we struggled against a poor side. Couldn't even be arsed staying for the normal end of season routine - had all the enthusiasm sucked out of me weeks ago. Big week ahead for the club, let's see what happens !!!

It's so, so easy to point the finger at board members and say daft things like "how little they do" and that they seem around in their suits". Do people not realise that these people are giving up their own time on a voluntary basis - often many, many hours to the detriment of their professional or personal life - maybe both. Be interesting to see how many of those being critical have volunteered even a single hour to the club.

Ask Ollerenshaw, Keegan, and possibly Durkin back, at least they will bring a modicum of business back to this sinking ship, unlike the Titanic plebs who are on the board now . We are becoming a football joke under this current board of no marks, who are bringing the club into disrepute big time .

So what has Mark Maguire actually done for our football club??
He's a massive fraud and robbing a wage off us!!
Gives it all the CEO spiel in his interview which he is an expert at. All talk and no action.
Seems the 'kids' on here posting positive things about him have no idea at all. We go more games blah blah we should have a vote blah blah - Fantastic well done. Keep being positive about Mr Maguire because your in a minority trust me! He's taking the club no where and is in no fit state to be advising our board on decisions etc - Giving Macca a longer deal was very shortsighted and sick to death of his boring interviews - Protecting the club etc etc did that well at Stockport.
Maguire and McCarthy = Guranteed relegation next season and I'm sure you will all be still so positive about MM
Chester FC a club going no where on and off the pitch.

Maguire's salery would be better used added to the playing budget! The dire lack of real ambition at this club, as opposed to hot air, will eventually lead CFC to be the most financially sound club in the NPL. We need to channel all our resources in just two places the 1st team squad and youth development.Aim for a competative team, have something real to offer the local football fan. Stop talking the clubs chances down. Season tickets sales WILL plummet and crowds continue to drop. No CEO, new manager , new assistant manager, use Hughes transfer cash to bridge the funding gap to go full time. Just having a club to support is NOT enough, football is a competative sport and being also rans every season at this level is not acceptable. Do those things and enthuse the public, we are selling entertainment of the tribal kind and losing wont sell.

There's a very detailed and exhaustive list posted by Dodge on the City Fans United Meeting thread which explains precisely what Maguire has brought to the club in the last year. Perhaps you should bother to read it before ranting such nonsense.

Do people not realise that these people are giving up their own time on a voluntary basis - often many, many hours to the detriment of their professional or personal life - maybe both. Be interesting to see how many of those being critical have volunteered even a single hour to the club. It's quite simple. If you are volunteering, you are taking on a role of responsibility. Volunteer or not, you should then deliver what is expected of someone with that responsibility. Just because you are a volunteer should not mean you are immune from criticism. They are representing us at boardroom level. Are you happy that they are representing and moving this club forwards? If they've not got the time, capacity or commitment, they should step down. Unfortunately it appears to be a closed shop. Last time anyone with an alternative view tried to gain election, there was a systematic attempt to ensure they couldn't.
