From CFC OWS - An initial eight individuals have today been issued with indefinite club bans from Chester FC following the crowd disorder that marred our National League North play-off semi-final with Brackley Town on May 7. Cheshire Police has commenced its investigation, and the football club is continuing to work with the authorities to identify those responsible, with further bans and potential criminal prosecutions to follow. The club bans prevent these individuals from entering the Deva Stadium and information will be shared with other clubs to stop them attending away fixtures. We reiterate our apologies to Brackley Town and the message to anyone who threatened the safety of their supporters is clear: you should expect to be identified, held to account and are not welcome at our club.Following this incident, the club has been contacted by The FA and the Safety Advisory Group who have a range of sanctions available to them, including substantial fines and restrictions on supporters attending future fixtures. For those with the best interests of Chester FC at heart, this has been a traumatic event and one that will take time for the club and those affected to recover from. We are angry that genuine fans have been left questioning their support for the club and parents having to reassure children that it is safe to watch their team. Over recent seasons, we have worked incredibly hard to promote Chester FC as a family club and make the Deva Stadium a friendly, welcoming place to watch football. Without doubt, the deplorable actions of a minority have damaged this progress, but we know these individuals do not reflect our club or its values. Further updates on the investigation will be provided when available. Anyone with any information relating to the disorder at the end of the match with Brackley Town should contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit www.cheshire.police.uk/tell-us quoting IML 1539302.

Hope this is the start of an avalanche of bans because unless I’m blind there was a hell of a lot more than 8 people involved…

Hope this is the start of an avalanche of bans because unless I’m blind there was a hell of a lot more than 8 people involved… To be fair, they've made it clear this is an initial 8 bans. So you'd have to say there are almost certainly going to be a lot more To have identified and banned 8 already is pretty impressive I think and they deserve credit - it's only been 4 days. Hopefully this will go some way to reassuring some fans with doubts about returning that the club are serious about this

Assume there's nothing to stop these individuals travelling to away games? Said previously, we also need to try to ensure all away matches are segregated. There was trouble at both Banbury and Kettering, which were both unsegregated. Banbury, especially, lack of segregation was an issue. Unfortunately we do have a reputation, and while we have more than our fair share of pricks the local nobheads turn out when we are in town.

I'm guessing court enforced banning orders will follow in due course. Good riddance to scum

I'm guessing court enforced banning orders will follow in due course. Good riddance to scum More than likely. FBO's cover any regulated football matches in the UK and can also be extended to matches held overseas. A three year ban is the usual penalty for a first time offender. If breached the penalty is an unlimited fine, a maximum sentence of 6 months in prison or both.

I was thinking yesterday, ignoring some obvious trolls, there is quite a wide opinion from other teams that we are not the friendliest club. When did this happen? I followed the Blues away for years until I moved away. We were always very welcome and normally people only had good things to say about our support. It sadly seems we have many bridges to build. I wonder if anybody has any ideas for a quick fix?
Obviously publicly condemning them is a good start, followed by multiple banning orders and convictions. This will hopefully convince the FA and SAG that we're taking it more than seriously

This will then stop them travelling

But like you said teams see an ex league club with the biggest following in the league and decide to turn out. However do Darlo and Hereford have these problems every other week?

Good to see this is the start and hopefully a lot more to come. This problem has been building for a while. It was difficult to watch the scenes post match unfolding, plaudits to the genuine fans who refused to put up with this behaviour and tried to head off the trouble. We need to stick together and make it clear to people intent on antisocial behaviour this is not accepted. Self policing maybe required as the police did little until too late

A really good start and a decisive message from the club. Just read the thread on Twitter and there's a few people in the comments clearly rattled that they have been/will soon be identified which is a good sign - hopefully they'll think twice before acting up again.

I have to be honest here I don't like the term "Indefinite" as it is open to interpretation. Another poster has suggested it will be a minimum of 3 years for some however I'd like more clarity from the club on this.
Positive at least they're banned.

Will be interesting how many more bans are issued and arrests made given the numbers that were there in the Brackley videos.

Just shows that now deleted post (and still visible) that these people are running scared. Calling fans 'grasses' of the club they supposedly love, and threats if it doesn't cease is an obvious attempt at intimidation.

This will hopefully convince the FA and SAG that we're taking it more than seriously As I mentioned in a certain other thread, there have been several more minor incidents at games this season, particularly in away games. These often haven’t hit the headlines or had strong repercussions, and in many cases our supporters haven’t been solely culpable, but won’t have exactly given opposing fans a good view of us. This again illustrates why strong action is necessary not just to weed out some of the more troublesome individuals in our fanbase, but also to deter others from following in their footsteps. The news from the club today is certainly a big step in the right direction, and it’s reassuring to hear them imply that this is only the beginning.

The "but I've got kids" argument is laughable when firstly your actions caused other people's kids to get hurt, and secondly what kind of example are you setting them? I'd keep it quiet that you've got kids under your roof if you can't control your violence in public. And aren't you effectively "grassing" yourself if you start tweeting threats at people. What did they expect to happen? They weren't exactly subtle or stealthy with how they went about it, we're they? Just no hope for these people.

Some people have zero self awareness!

I’d say they need to grow up but there were people in their 50’s on that pitch!

I’d say they need to grow up but there were people in their 50’s on that pitch! I don't care how many games they go to, they're not supporters. They obviously don't care about the club or have any respect for the people who give up their time for it if they behave in this way. They also don't seem to have any dignity or respect for themselves. It's the sense of affront they have that they're being called out for it that I can't believe. As if they thought they could run across the pitch, throw things at people and everyone would just laugh it off. Now that you've sobered up, why not at least take ownership of the fact that you're a complete prick? It would be quite funny and entertaining if it wasn't so serious.

Enough is enough now and you can’t really call yourself a supporter when your very actions damage the club. It’s been coming a long time but the chickens have come home to roost and now it’s time to rid the club of this faction.
